I got a 199 on the Middle School Praxis II (069) and did very well on the Math Content (061). Presently, I am tutoring someone else on the 069 Praxis II. Please email me at [email removed].

I am currently seeking my MED in elementary education and am so anxious to begin my career. I am substituting as much as I can, but pay isn't great. So, wondering if there are any positions in a private school that I don't need my certification for. I have a BA in psychology. If anyone has any ideas I am open for them. Thanks Kim

I am trying to find salary information for teaching -- and substitute teaching -- positions in CT. Some are easy to find on the district's website; others are more elusive!
As for pay scales, cea.org does post salary schedule...See MoreI would check out the following websites - ctreap.net, cea.org, or casciac.org - they all list teaching positions throughout the state. You can also sign up for job alerts. Have you also checked into Fairfield Teachers Agency? They have some positions, and also hire for private schools.
As for pay scales, cea.org does post salary schedules, but I think you have to be a member.
Jobs are few this time of year, but you might catch a long-term subbing position. Of course, I would put my name in to sub at as many schools as you can do. Sub pay can go anywhere from $70/day to over $100 - depending on the district.
What are you certified to teach?
Good luck

Hi. Do you teach or attend WHSer? Funny you mention Wilton. I am in the process of filling out their application. (They want an essay, so it is not finished yet.) I have sent my resume to the BOE twice and even driven there another two times to apply for long-term sub openings; one of the openings was for a readers/writers workshop teacher (I cannot remember the exact name of the class). I have applied several times for that particular position, which seems to appear periodically throught the school year. Each time I have applied I have called (sometimes made several phone calls) to follow up; I have never even received a return phone call. ..... btw... do you know what the deal with this workshop position is? I thought it might be a good fit for me, because I am a fairly new teacher certified in language arts. I have also taught reading and writing. I live in Norwalk so Wilton is very appealing to me.
I am surprised to see they need subs so badly. I got the impression they were in a position to pick and choose candidates.
i graduated in the Philippines with Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.I finished also my Master's Degree in Math.I 'm looking for a job here in New York as a Math teacher for the Middle and High School in a private or catholic school.I've been a Math teacher in the Philippines for 5 years. even be able to teach public (not sure what the "pc" term is) on a DSAP. If you are interested in CT (since you say you want to work in NY but you did post on the CT board) , you may be able to get a job in Bridgeport or Hartford tomorrow.
I have been teaching for three years in Michigan. My wife and I are relocating to Connecticut and I was wondering what the teaching job market was like there. I have a secondary social studies and secondary English certs. Thank you for your time.

Not sure how soon you are going to be here in CT, but I have a 6 month teaching spot teaching safety with regard to electricity to grade school students. It's for a utility company here in CT and need a teacher to go to Wilton, Weston, Westport, New Caanan, Norwalk, Stamford, Darien and Greenwich. Please contact me if you would be interested.

I would be more than happy to act as an English tutor for your son. I am a recent graduate of UConn's Neag School of Education with an English specialty, and I am currently completing my Master's degree in Education (at UConn as well). I have experience working as a teacher at the Summer School Program at Taft School in Watertown, where the coursework is rigorous, and I have also completed my student teaching at East Hartford High School.
My rate is $25 an hour, and my schedule is flexible. Please let me know what would be a good schedule for you and your son, and I will be glad to work with you. Thanks!

UNH has an excellent reputation, and good quality instructors. Everyone in my cohort that wanted a job found one. It is worth looking into their program. However, it is a bit pricey!
