Have people noticed a significant change in number of positions availbale due to the economic climate? This is my first search for a teaching job and am wondering if there is more competition for jobs than in previous years.

Ruth There are definitely many districts cutting positions this year - - my district is cutting several elementary classroom positions and, depending on the budget, possibly some HS and specialist positions.

Kristen There are openings at a private school in New Haven for K and 5th grade. Just an FYI. They just posted the jobs . I applied there once, but ended up getting a multi-year contract at a different school.
