I am currently teaching Spanish, English and French o some Spaniards while studying at University. I am going to spend the month of July in Laurel, MD with and American friend and I was hoping I could get a job. I would be pleased to offer my services to either teaching or translating. Or any other job related to language skills. If the information provided is not evidence enough to prove my oustanding interest in languages I would say some of the poems I wrote in my free time have been published and that I currently correct spanish texts too. Teachers, Fancy an exchange visit but don't want to be shackled by local government conditions? I'm keen to exchange with a DC teacher during our respective school holidays for an opportunity to experience British Culture , with or without the opportunity to visit English Schools. I(48 year old married male) am willing to offer a bed in the family home in Derbyshire, England and accompanied(if required) excursions to many sites of cultural significance. In return I would like to revisit the DC area, having spent 4 weeks in Reston, Virginia during 2001. If interested contact me at [email removed].
I'm a new grad and was wanting to know about DC schools, and if they have a residency reqiurement for teachers? Also does anyone know if schools in the system have uniformed start/finish time, or are school times staggered? Elementary schools are my main intrest.
Are there grants available for college students wishing to become teachers? My son will be attending University of Maryland starting in the fall (as a junior). He intends to become a high school English teacher. He was told that he would be doing some interning there in DC. I'm just wondering if there were grants available if he agreed to teach in the DC area. Thanks so much!
please tell your son not to do it. baltimore city schools help perspective teachers. check with them.

Hey all, I have just been hired as a HS Bio teach for this upcoming school year. Since this is my first time ever teaching as a career, what should I look into getting as far as supplies go? I am not sure if the school initially gives you supplies and if you are missing the rest, ten you purchase them. I am not too sure. If someone could fill me in on what to expect, I would totally appreciate it.
You should ask if your school has a Title I office...unfortunately, not all schools who have a Title 1 office spend the money appropriately...often I can special order something using Title 1 funds and I get most of my regular supplies like pens, staplers, etc through them.
