Does anyone know anything about working at charter schools in the DC? Which ones are the best ones to work for? Any warnins or words of wisdom. I have an opportunity to work for one, but I am hesitant because I just don't know much about them. Any commentary/advice will be appreciated. Thanks, Angel

I was drawn to the school for its established reputation in the community and overall mission of promoting multiculturalism and bilingualism in English and Spanish. I think that any experience in life is what you make it. Hope everything works out for you.

And as for life being what you make it...I saw that movie. I think it was called Life is Beautiful. It was a comedy. The lead character was the source of humor because he lived that philosophy despite how ridiculous it was in the face of what was happening. He was living a really pathetic delusion.
Maybe after you actually spend a year (hopefully you will make it that long--many new DC teachers do not) teaching, you might have a less naive and less smugly superior attitude about other people's bad experiences.
