We are down to the last 8 states needed! Yay! If you are one of the states listed...we still need you! Please email me if you're interested. This exchange is for kinder/first/or second grade.
States Needed:
Alaska Delaware Idaho New Mexico North Dakota Rhode Island South Dakota Vermont (and Washington DC if I can find you!)
Quick Rules (I'll be emailing everyone specifics): *Each postcard has 2 state facts and then 1 fun fact (can be about anything from your class to your town..anything.)
*Postcards should be store bought
*You'll send out 5 cards a week starting mid-late September (you can put the same three facts on each card to make it easy)...that way you should have all 50 postcards by the beginning of December. There is an order to the five states...you'll see who you send yours out to once I send the final addresses email.
*With the addresses, I am sending an attachment of the letter I will be sending home to parents. You can personalize it to fit your class! :)
*Have more questions? Email me! [email removed]
Everyone involved is very excited and I know the kiddos are going to love this. I hope you're one of the missing states!
I am putting together a 51 postcard exchange! I am collecting address of interested teachers- 1 from each state. I am desperately in need of Washington DC! For our exchange, each class is required to send a postcard from their state to each of the other classes. If all goes as planned, you should receive 50 (all the other states plus DC) postcards- 1 from each other state in return. This is a great way to teacher about the US and makes a really fun bulletin board! If you are interest, please email me at [email removed]:

A simple search for substitute teaching in Montgomery County MD turned up a page with all of this info. Im finding it hard to believe that such a resource doesn't exist for DC, but as of yet, I haven't been able to find anything.
My wife is starting a long-term substitute position in DCPS, and she was told that her principal would meet with the Comptroller and design a compensation package for her. I'm not sure if this means that her rate will take into account her specific qualifications or if this is different from the "usual" substitute process since it's for twelve or more weeks.
I did try to find the same information you mention, though, and I had no more luck than you did. I agree that it seems odd that this information is public knowledge in Maryland and seems to be either secret or undefined in D.C.
I am organizing a POSTCARD EXCHANGE for the upcoming school year 2009-2010. I would like it very much to have successful turnout of all the states (provinces and territories are welcome!). My classes and I have enjoyed this experience tremendously over the years.
This project works well when all participants hold up to their promise. I would like one participant from each of the 50 states and DC. In addition, anybody who teaches in Canada feel free to join just inquire!
This will be on a first come, first serve. I will have all info ready mid to late September and email every so often with updates.
If you are interested and willing to make the commitment, please provide the following information:
There seems to be a lot of confusion as to how to interpret the language. I will say no more but provide you with the paragraph that is the subject of considerably contention.
Please let me know how you interpret the meaning of the paragraph and what you think of the usage. I have heard all sorts of things but I leave it to you.
In your response, I request that you indicate what school you teach at and what grade level. I may submit your opinions to the Court in a filing. Your comments are simply your opinions and nothing will come of it.

hi im from peru and i have a 6 month gap between jobs from jan 2010 till july 2010. of course i am a teacher and id love to spend those six months working abroad or taking a diploma in something intresting for my career... any suggestions?????
What do the students call their teachers? How do the teachers address their students? How do students get to school? WHat does lunch look like on a normal day? Is it long or short? Do students stay at school for lunch or go home? Is school available to everyone? Is it free?
As a bonus, it would be HUGE if there happens to be a teacher who has the technology to send a photo or short video of the kids saying, "Hola Katie and Sloan Creek Middle School! Bien venido a Peru." Perhaps we can even get a video pen pal communication going.
We can have our kids send a similar video back to you if you would like. Her project is due Jan 14th.
We need 2 teachers (a K-3 and a K-5) from DC to join our postcard exchange. I have 2 lists with openings for DC. PLEASE join us! Please send name, school address, and email address to me ASAP! We hope to start in October. Barb
