The Stephen Decatur House Museum, a National Trust
Historic Site, seeks a Master Teacher for its upcoming
teacher workshops, Race and Place: African Americans in
Washington, DC from 1800-1954. The workshops are funded
through the National Endowment for the Humanities
Landmarks of American History and Culture: Workshops for
School Teachers initiative. The Race and Place workshops
will promote thoughtful investigations of four crucial
periods in American history—pre-Civil War, Civil War,
Reconstruction, and Segregation—through the lens of the
experiences of African Americans in the District of
Columbia. In two sessions, each for fifty K-12 educators
from around the country, Race and Place will explore
