I will try to make this as short as possible. My wife and I will be moving to DC next year, and my wife hopes to start a job as a foreign language teacher. She is a native Mandarin teacher, fluent in both French and English. She's got a very good, international academic background and experience teaching in both Taiwan and the US.

There is a school that is interested in hiring her to start a Mandarin program, but we are now trying to figure out how to go about getting her certified to teach in DC. So far, we've been told that she has to take the Praxis I & II.

As we collect all the information we need to get ready for the Praxis tests, I'm curious about work/study sort of programs for Mandarin teachers in the US. I've heard of government programs that try to get Mandarin teachers in American classrooms, but I don't know exactly how that applies to us.
