Is anyone out there aware of which Delaware school districts provide local medical coverage during the state 90 day waiting period for newly hired teachers? Thanks.
Red Clay allows you to buy benefits during that period. Actually, since medical is through the state, I believe that's how all of the districts work here.

Thank you Susie for your prompt reply. I really would like to teach in Delaware however my husband is undergoing continuing medical treatment for cancer and I am afraid I won't be able to pay for living expenses while paying for medical coverage during the 90 day waiting period. NJ is a terrifc state in which to work but it's tough to keep up with the high cost of living here. My home is right across the Delaware Memorial Bridge and we are swamped with HIGH EVERYTHING!!(re: taxed to death).Thank you again for taking the time to answer.

My friend and I are organizing a postcard exchange and we have almost all states but 5 and you're one of them! I can explain in more detail when you email me, but it's really easy and fun! Basically, you'll receive addresses for a school in each of the 50 states and you will send a postcard to each with a short description of your school/class and state. The idea is that you will then receive postcards from 49 other states and your class will learn a little about every state. It's an awesome project and makes a great bulletin board. This is the 2nd year that I am a part of this and the kids love it!! Please email me asap at [email removed].
We still need: Delaware, Hawaii, Montana, Rhode Island, Utah
I'm a teacher from NYC and I'm organizing a postcard exchange for the 3rd year. We are sending and receiving postcards from all over the USA. I'm not sure if you're familiar but here's how it works: You have to purchase 50 postcards w/ your state's pictures on them. You also have to purchase postcard stamps. But you can either ask for a dollar from each student to help out w/ the costs or on your supply list, ask each student to purchase a postcard. I'm from NYC so postcards here are very cheap (20 for $1) so I only ask each kid to bring in $ for 2 stamps. Once you get your postcards, you and your students do some research about your state (ex. population, state bird, what's the weather like, fun things to do there, and write a little about your town and class) and you write this info on the back of the postcard and mail it out and you'll get 50 postcards back from all over the country! It's really a fun project for the kids. Let me know if you're still interested. Thanks! Amanda
This will be my 3rd year organizing a postcard exchange. Please note that we'd prefer bought photo postcards rather than made cards. All cards must be out by the last week of November. And only write me if you are really committed to making this project work. Are you interested in joining? Email me at:

Please send your name, school name and addy, and the grade you teach. Thanks!
Hi! I teach 2nd grade in Texas and have started a postcard exchange throughout the US. I was hoping to find a class in Delaware that would like to join in! The details are below. If you would not like to do this, but know of someone who might, could you please forward this post to them? Thanks a lot and have a great year!
We have a postcard exchange that has some open spots that we are hoping to fill. You would be committing to send 49 postcards to different classrooms throughout the US. They are counting on you for that state so please only sign up if you will follow through. In return, you will receive 49 postcards from around the country. Please email me your name, email, school address, and what grade you teach and I will add you to our database. I look forward to hearing from you! [email removed]
I am a high school English teacher available to edit and assist with college application essays. I can also tutor in English -- literature, grammar, writing skills, SAT prep.
Hi all, Indian River would like to interview me for elementary. I would be coming out of state from PA. Can anyone give me any insight into the district? I have researched it online and it seems to fit my criteria but it is always good to hear from those in the know:)
My class will be reading the story the Gingerbread Man and doing a project with it. I am asking if anyone would mind assisting with this... if you would like to please email me at [email removed].
Project letter: My name is the Gingerbread Man, my friend in CLass 2H was reading a story about me and i jumped out of the storybook to visit you. My friend at school is wondering where I have run to. Please help them by sending them a picture postcard showing them the area where you live. This postcard will be posted on a large map of the world outside of my classroom. This will help the children by showing them how different parts of the world look. I know my friends will enjoy hearing from you and learning where I have run! Thank you for your help! Got to go! The Gingerbread Man

Found a fantastic new chapter-book series for ages 7-9 that the kids in my class are thrilled about. It's called the Incredible Journey Books and it has fast-paced worldly adventures filled with geography facts. The plots are interesting and the series has done the trick to get my third-grade class interested in exploring the world map. The books have a great site that has an Africa unit along with puzzles to go with each book. Go to [link removed].
