:pI don't know where in DE you are considering but check into the new sustainable energy/nuclear technology program at Salem Community College just over the bridge in NJ. They are currently looking for faculty.
I would be very careful about DE. It seems the current administration is very anti education. They gave a raise to every state employee except those in education. Then this year they gave every state employee a 10 pecent pay cut including teachers. DE has the most private schools than anywhere I have ever heard of. I think this is one of the reasons why public education in DE gets bled dry all the time. Anyone in DE gov't sends their kids to private so they don't seem to care about public schools what so ever to them its just another expense that they don't need.
The following website lists some resources for Black History Month including Barack Obama’s inauguration speech and a list of African-American inventors.

I have been exploring and inquiring about "Alternate Route" programs throughout the Northeast from Maine to Virginia. Have had moderate success interviewing with Fellows programs in New York and Baltimore, but didn't make the cut. Have interviews pending in a couple of other places as well in April.
To my surprise, the Delaware ARTC program pre-qualified me from my transcripts for both Math and Business Ed, pending Praxis II scores (I took 0061 on March 14 and I'm sure I got way more than the 121 needed in the state for Math, I haven't taken the Business Ed Praxis II exam yet).
Now this program is unique in that you are supposed to use this prequalification to get a job in DE and then the school assists with your training in the ARTC program to get full certification, etc.
What I want to know is: what is this program like? And what are my chances of getting an "ARTC job"? It would be good to know as I would relocate for this career opportunity (I currently live in NY State). The ARTC folks told me to go on [link removed].
They also encouraged me to go to the education career fairs that are being held at Univ. of Delaware on April 21-22. Do you think they are worth my going to, or am I too much competing with experienced teachers (and about-to-graduate U-Del education majors) and wasting my time?
Please let me know, I haven't made a motel reservation yet, thanks.
I haven't seen much on the teachdelaware website. Now ARTC advertised a job fair earlier this week I was going to go to, but I had a sudden death in the family and had to go to the funeral, etc. and missed it. A day or two before the fair, the ARTC website listed "tips for the fair" and seemed to suggest in it that at this part of the year, school districts shy away from ARTC candidates but look more into them closer to the start of the school year.
Do they do more job fairs between now and September? Or does the website "perk up"? Or did you get your ARTC position a different way? I hope you reply soon.
By the way, correction to others who see my original post, the 121 Praxis II requirement was a typo, it was 141, but I got my scores back and I made it.

EaWhat is going on? Where is anyone who actually cares about teachers, be they novice or veteran? Aren't we supposed to care about ourselves? Where is the solidarity and all of that good stuff? Let us know what's going on. We are not alone.
I am a NJ Certified 4th Grade Teacher with a Masters of Arts in Elementary education and have taught for 2 years. We are thinking of relocating to Millville Delaware- How is the job market in this part of DE or nearby MD?
