Hi fellow teachers, I am considering completing a program to become an ESL Specialist. I'm already certified for Elementary Ed. and have two years of long-term sub. experience, but have an interest in ESL, and want to increase my marketability.

Are there opportunities near Wilmington for contract ESL positions? Specifically, can one be employed by a district, work full-time, and receive benefits? (Most of the ads I've seen so far are for ESL tutors; they are paid by the hour and it's not clear how many hours they work. I'm also not sure if they qualify for benefits). I'm trying to figure out if it is worth it for me to commit to a year of ESL classes. (I also live near PA, so if anyone knows the deal in PA, please let me know). Thanks so much for your help!
unrelated perhaps erhaps this is unrelated but I am surprised there are not a glut of ESL teaching positions in DE due to the number of immigrants or non-nativing speakers in the state. Some of the towns are turning into havens for Spanish speakers so much so that the police forces have been hiring bilingual officers and employees.
