I have no teaching experience at all besides some volunteering.
I do have my bachelors degree in legal studies.
I have taken the Elementary Education Exam and have not passed.
I will be taking it again in three weeks.
My question is does anyone know any good study guides I can use to pass the Elementary Education K-6 Exam?
Do I need credits in Education in order to be certified to teach in Florida or having my bachelors in Legal studies alone is good enough along with my certificate in Elementary Education?
I am asking because the Exam I took was more so on what I knew as a teacher then the information I learned from the study guide.
The test was brutal and I am afraid I may have wasted my money and time.
Have I gone about it the wrong way?
I was not sure at first if I wanted to teach; but I know that teaching is the place for me.

It's been a long time since I've taken the test, but what I remember is the subject area had lots of questions on child development and teaching methods.
It would really be in your best interest to visit a local college of education and inquire about a teacher immersion program. We had one at FGCU and it was an excellerated program for individuals with a non-education degree who desired to become teachers.
I think it's wonderful that teaching is your goal, especially since people aren't entering education like they did in the past. However, you may not be aware of the duties of a full time teacher vs. volunteer.
Another idea that could help you is to either become a para while you're Preparing for the test or substitute.
I needed only two courses. I also needed to pass two tests, General Knowledge, and Subject Area (I did English 6-12). Next, I had to get hired as an English teacher to qualify for my Temporary Certificate.
During those first two years of teaching, I had to pass my professional test, to be granted by permanent certificate.
Why is the K-6 Elementary test so difficult to pass. I swear I have been trying to pass the test for the past year. I have taken it several times with not LUCK. I also think that they switch the test and it's truly hard to find content to study / prepare for the test.

...................I am having the same problem. The first time I took the test; I studied the wrong material. The second time I took the test I used a study guide called 240 tutoring. My scores went up extremely and I found it helpful but I still did not pass by 20 points on the LANG. ARTS AND SCIENCE. I am only 8 points away from passing the social science and 12 points on the math. I would recommend the 240 tutoring but they do recommend that you take 90 days to study the material. I believe it helped me. Also there is a website I can send to you later that the state provided. It also has assessments you can take. I believe if you do that and take the test before it changes again you will be fine. I am studying now and I plan on taking it again in April. Don't give up; you can do it. It will pay off at the end.
I am a soon-to-be UF graduate in Music Education, relocating to the Fort Myers area. I am applying to the Lee County and Collier County school districts, and am wondering if anyone around this area has any job search advice.
As a teacher in another state - I am looking at all candidates running for president. I know I can't vote for Bush because he was a major player in hyper-testing and CC. But - what about Rubio? What was his record there on teachers and education?

Any and all Republicans are anti-teacher and anti-public education. You need to be deciding between Clinton and Sanders. You're voting against your interests considering a Republican.
I am thinking of moving to FL from GA to teach elementary school. However, if it is the same as GA, I do not want to. Does FL focus on small group instruction, only? What is it like? Thanks!
Florida is not a teacher friendly state. You will be on annual contract for the foreseeable future. The republicans favor charter schools and I truly think they are trying to privatize education. In your case, I don't think the grass is greener on our side.
Hello! I am thinking of moving from GA to FL to teach. I am disappointed at how much GA focuses on the workshop model for every aspect of teaching. Is it that way in FL, too?
Have you found a good resource for studying for the middle school english cert. test? I am certified in Spanish but want to be available to support other openings.

I just used the study guide that's for the test. However, I have a strong ELA background and already had my master's in Reading.
