No shortage. Not even special ed. Everyone works SPED until they can slide into regular ed. Back door job.

"I hear many people talk about tolerance and how we must learn to be tolerant toward those who are different from us. When we tolerate something, we put up with it temporarily until it is gone. We tolerate a toothache, back pain, and loud music coming from a neighbor’s house. Why would we ever put what we do with children in the same category? Instead, we should celebrate the differences of our children."

hello I'm at a crossroads I graduated with a bs degree in criminal justice and can't find work I have moved to south Florida and am wondering what's the starting salary for new teachers and the job market my passions are math and physical education
You would probably have a better chance getting a position in Math rather than PE. If you're serious, you'll have to take additional college courses to obtain your professional teaching certificate.
I'm a 5th grade teacher in Calgary, Alberta. I am looking to relocate to florida! Is there anyone our there that would be willing to let me know if this is possible or walk me through the process. I'd greatly appreciate it :)
However, if Rick Scott IS NOT reelected, you might check back in a couple of years; we might see some changes.
If you want to move to Florida for the climate, you would be better off getting a job as wait staff in a restaurant. At least you wouldn't be taking home loads of work to do on your own time.

Are you a US citizen or do you have a green card? If so, then you apply for a Florida teaching license as soon as possible. Once that is in hand, you can then apply to jobs. I'm not sure how they evaluate Canadian licenses/degrees. I know people from other nations have to have their degrees evaluated to prove they're equivalent to a US Bachelor or Master degree.
If you don't have US citizenship or a Green Card, you have to get permanent residency first to get a teaching license and job. I don't know how you do that. I'm sure there are many immigration websites with that information. I understand it is very expensive and time consuming. I do know that there are more than enough elementary teachers in the US, so districts won't be sponsoring you for a visa or anything like that.
For anyone in the Tampa Bay area, the Office Depot on US 19 in Tarpon Springs is closing on the 15th. They have tons of school supplies at 50 - 80% off. Also, some electronics and etc... for cheap Christmas shopping.
