Hi, I resigned from teaching back in 2009. I am currently substituting and would like to get recertified. Does anybody know the process for doing this? Thanks, Cathy

Clark County is home to Las Vegas, a southwestern oasis and one of the most exciting and diverse cities on the planet, featuring world class shows, concerts, and dining experiences. With the third highest number of sunny days in the nation, Clark County is an outdoor enthusiasts' paradise, with opportunities to enjoy Lake Mead, the Colorado River, Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, or the mountains and pine trees of nearby Mt. Charleston. Centrally located in the heart of the southwest, Clark County is only four hours away from the beaches of southern California, and McCarran International Airport averages about 980 daily flights to connect with the rest of the nation and the world.
Our students come from all over the world, speaking more than 154 languages, making CCSD the ideal fit for bilingual teachers and those with experience teaching English Language Learners. CCSD is home to some of the best educators in the country, including, three Milken Award winners in the past five years.
Our focus on innovation makes us an ideal home for teachers in the high need areas of Math, Science and Special Education. During years of rapid growth, CCSD has built more than 110 new schools since 2000, including six new Career & Technical Academies and some of the top magnet schools in the nation. No matter your background or area of specialty, you will find a school that will be a perfect fit.

Have the current teachers left because Las Vegas was the foreclosure capital of the nation?
Nevada isn't the boom state it used to be. It's very, very slowly trying to recover.
Washoe County up north always brags about having 300-400 positions annually, but the clear majority of those jobs are filled internally.

I just wanted to say thank you to all that you do for the youth in our communities. To celebrate you making it through another year in one piece, we want to invite you to our Teacher Appreciation Happy Hour hosted by Kiss Country.
It will be next week Friday, 6/6 at America's Backyard in Downtown Ft.Lauderdale from 3:00PM-8:00PM. 2 for 1 drink specials, giveaways, and BBQ available.
Thanks again, and enjoy your summer. We hope to see you there!
This is an important election year in Florida; this board should be full of posts by our teachers! If we want to change the abysmal way we're treated in Florida, this is the year to start. Come on, teachers, let's make some noise!
I left teaching 15 years ago in the state of Florida and I am really glad I did! However, my husband is still teaching in the state and I feel the pain Florida teachers are dealing with on a daily basis. How much more can they take away from teachers in the state? The only people that can afford to teach in Florida are those with trust funds. Why is it that your local postal carrier and UPS driver make significantly more money? Why is it that teacher salaries have actually decreased? Why is it that if you want to be treated and paid like a professional it is looked down on by the "powers that be"? More importantly, what can be done about it? What about the "union" using dues to launch a mass campaign discouraging anyone from teaching in the state? What about encouraging parents to "opt" their children out of state testing? The sad thing is that those who dedicate their careers to teaching in Florida will have an extremely difficult time sending their own children to college unless of course they have a trust fund.
I was just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to land a job in Pinellas or Hillsborough county. I have lived in Florida almost all my life but I have always taught in the private sector. I'm bilingual and I'm certified in both Early Childhood and Elementary Ed.

Did you catch that? They're paid more for their years of service? Didn't they just OUTLAW doing just that for teachers? Oh, the hypocrisy....
Hey, Floridian public school teachers- You get Tony Bennett for your Education Commissioner, since Indiana teachers threw him out of his state superintendent post there. Good luck to you!!

HERES MY COMPLETE UPDATE FROM MY SITE ABOUT THE SHOOTING HAPPENINGS. [link removed]
You're right, male tchr. I'm sure Adam Lanza's gun wouldn't have been able to kill male teachers. It's not like we have shootings at places where males go, like Batman movies and malls.
