A voucher-funded Milwaukee school that had gotten more than $2 million in taxpayer money disappeared “in the dead of the night” last month, its former landlord said this week.

According to The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, state officials confirmed that LifeSkills Academy had already received over $200,000 as a part of the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program this year before vacating the premises around Dec. 12.
“They moved out, as people say, in the dead of the night,” All Saints Catholic Church’s Father Carl Diederichs explained to the paper. LifeSkills had rented a building owned by the church.
Department of Public Instruction (DPI) documents obtained by The Journal-Sentinel indicated that LifeSkills had been paid $202,278 in taxpayer money this year and $202,278 in voucher payments for the 2012-2013 school year. Since joining the voucher program in 2008, the school had received over $2 million in payments.
But during the last full school year, only one of LifeSkill’s students managed to score as proficient in reading and math.

A top city school official was on scene at the notorious “School of No” in Queens Monday to investigate shocking conditions, first exposed by The Post on Sunday, as angry parents and a City Council member demanded answers.
“Every day, my son tells me all they do is watch TV all day long. I teach him how to read, but this school has not helped him at all. All they do is yell at the kids. I ask them why they are always yelling and the teachers say they have to because the principal is so strong on them,” griped Ivelisse Lantigua, 39, whose son is a second-grader at PS 106 in Far Rockaway.
Sources said that fur-loving principal Marcella Sills has an abysmal attendance record and history of uncaring and bizarre behavior.
“The PTA has problems with the principal. My wife is the vice president of the PTA. The principal, she doesn’t care. She dodges parents. She says she’s busy but then she’s just standing around, and always ready to leave,” said Jonathan Pelaez, 26, who was dropping off his daughter for pre K.
After seeing the Post report, new Schools Chancellor Carmen Farina assigned a deputy to visit PS 106 Monday morning.
“What was reported … is unacceptable, and if true will be immediately addressed,” Farina said in a statement.
Sills arrived around 7:30 a.m.
“She hasn’t shown up that early in six or seven years,” a source said.

A judge called a former Mango Elementary School teacher a “parent’s worst nightmare” while ordering her to 38 years in prison for having sex with a 12-year-old student.
Despite a plea for mercy from Ethel Anderson, Judge Chet Tharpe showed her no mercy during a sentencing hearing Monday.
“You groomed him for over a period of time until you were satisfied that you could violate him in the most vile, and horrible ways in order to satisfy your own deviant desires,” the judge said.
On Sept. 18, a jury of three men and three women deliberated less than three hours and found Anderson, 31, guilty of molesting the boy, who she was tutoring in math. Evidence included hundreds of text messages between the pair talking about what they had done. Anderson testified it was a form of “sexual therapy.”
Anderson begged Tharpe for a light sentence, showing concern for her 6-year-old daughter, saying she was not a sexual predator, and admitting shame and embarrassment.
“I’m a mother, I’m not a monster. I truly wish that none of this had ever happened because all I want to to go back to being” a mom, she said while weeping. “There must be something in me that shows I’m worthy of mercy.”

Additionally, guided by "coaches" who know NOTHING themselves. Teachers are forced to give highest ratings to ETO staff and coaches, or risk being reported to the principal. Teachers are given a review sheet and it must be completed in the presence of the coach and/or ETO staffmember. Keep your job=highest rating on survey! That's the modus operandi of the Miami-Dade Schools ETO. In "low performing" and Title 1 schools, "low" and "high" students are seated together, even during tests, low students copy from high students, data gives appearance of "making gains." More than half will certainly do poorly on the FCAT, unless high/low seating pairs and proctors look the other way. That's how Miami-Dade County Schools inaccurately earn national accolades. Again continuing the modus operandi of Miami-Dade Schools. If individual seating and proper outside proctoring is in place, struggles of students would be accurately reflected in the assessment scores, therefore proper remediation would be given. A novel idea! Here in Florida, we prefer the quick easy route so county top staff can earn their bonuses and we have the appearance of making gains! Again, it's Florida, we continue to be the laughing stock! Cheating and shoring up the data in school districts, have been going on around the country. It's nothing new. Superintendents create the appearance of making gains to earn bonuses, while receiving kickbacks from book companies and other private educational agencies in exchange for purchasing their products. Miami-Dade - "low" schools are in turmoil. Teachers are frustrated! Eradicate ETO! Go Math should GO AWAY!
