"I'M FEELING JUST DUCKY" is a free story/coloring book put out by OSSD (Overcoming The Stigma of Seizure Disorders), of Savannah, GA.
We want to reach as many teachers, students, and communities that we possibly can, as seizure disorders are still one of the most misunderstood ailments in society today.
This book tells the tale of a little duck who had seizures, and how he learns to conquer his fears along the way...thanks to Mother Duck and pals.
Please contact Pam Steadman at [email removed].
It is SO IMPORTANT that ALL children know what to expect during a classmate's seizure. This book reaches out in a very gentle manner.
I thought some of you might be interested in my novel entitled "Soul of the South" which is being tentatively released for the winter of 2005. It is filled with action, romance, and intrigue, as my protagonist serves the South as a spy in Washington, as a diplomat in England and France, and as an officer in the Army of Northern Virginia. My protagonist is also adamantly against slavery, as he makes known to President Lincoln and Confederate President Davis. And, of course, there is much romance in my novel, as my protagonist William Lytham meets a beautiful woman from Virginia set against the backdrop of a beautiful woman he meets while in France as a Southern diplomat. Without giving away too many details, William marries one of them amidst much acclamation with a surprise individual as the best man. You are more than welcome to read a chapter excerpt and purchase the novel on my web site at [link removed].

Hello. I have just graduated in the Master's program of the University of Hawaii, majoring in East Asian Language and Literature, emphasizing in Japanese. I am currently looking for a job in teaching japanese to middle school and high school level students.
Hello! My name is Colleen. I live and work in Wilmington, Delaware. I am a special education teacher at the Delaware Autism Program. I am interested in moving somewhere new for 1-2 years. I searched online about Teach for America, an Americorps program that young teachers commit 2 years of their professional career to. They have sites throughout the United States, but none in Hawaii. I was wondering if there are any programs for teachers in Hawaii that are similar to this....where you would commit a certain amount of time, and they provide housing and other necessary supports? Please let me know if anyone has heard of programs like these, or any other contacts that are available. Thanks, Colleen
My name is Nicole and I am currently getting my Masters in Elementary Education here on Long Island, NY at Long Island University. I did my undergraduate in East Asian Studies/Japanese emphasis. I also lived in Japan for 1.5 years with a host family. I would like to take my experience to Hawaii to teach. Could someone give me some information on teaching credentials in Hawaii. Would I need to get recertified if I am certified in NY? Would I need to redo my student teaching experience? I also would like to know the salary range for teachers starting off in Hawaii. My fiance and I are considering moving to Hawaii and we would like to get some information prior to making the decision to move there. We are considering other places but, Hawaii is on the list. My fiance is a digital photographer with the United States Marine Corps. He has been with the Marines for over 6 years. He gets out of the marines in 2007. If there is any information you can give us we certainly appreciate it. We would also like to know the cost of living in Hawaii.
A great group of teachers is looking for several states to join our yearly postcard exchange. We are only interested in dedicated teachers who are willing to be 100% committed to this project, so please only respond if you are truly interested. Unless you have wonderful parent volunteers who are willing to supply your postcards and stamps, you will most likely spend around $50 total on postcards and stamps. Please keep that in mind!
Each teacher is responsible for sending one postcard to each participating teacher (you will send out 49 postcards and in turn receive 49 postcards). Messages on the postcards can be written by your students (or by you if you teach younger grades), and may include interesting facts about the city/state you live in, state symbols, etc. A complete address list will be emailed to you by September 1st (possibly earlier if we have 100% participation by then). The deadline for sending your postcards is October 31st.
If you are interested in joining, please email me the following information:
Your name The grade you teach Your school's name Your school's address Your email address Your school's website or your classroom website address
Once again, please only reply if you are certain that you will be able to participate fully in our exchange. Thanks!!
Am I too late to join? I am from Kentucky, but would love to participate even though you already have someone from KY. Is that possible? My name is Julie Traylor. I teach 2nd grade. My school is Clay Elementary, 210 College Street, Clay, KY 42404. My e-mail is [email removed]
