My class will be reading the story the Gingerbread Man and doing a project with it. I am asking if anyone would mind assisting with this... if you would like to please email me at [email removed].
Project letter: My name is the Gingerbread Man, my friend in CLass 2H was reading a story about me and i jumped out of the storybook to visit you. My friend at school is wondering where I have run to. Please help them by sending them a picture postcard showing them the area where you live. This postcard will be posted on a large map of the world outside of my classroom. This will help the children by showing them how different parts of the world look. I know my friends will enjoy hearing from you and learning where I have run! Thank you for your help! Got to go! The Gingerbread Man

Hi. I will be moving to Oahu this summer and was wondering what the job opportunities are there. I'm an elementary teacher with 3 years experience. Is it worth trying or are there teacher overages?
I am trying to get information about summer teaching opportunities on Maui. I'm a National Board certified teacher of middle school Lang./Lit. in New Mexico, but am also certified in elem. ed. I understand that the Maui Community College has summer programs for middle and high school students. Does anyone know anything about gettting hired to teach there? I'm also interested in anything in Kihei or Lahaina. ANY teaching job that will allow me to afford to spend the summer there would be great! Thanks.
I will be moving to HI in about a year as a Secondary Math teacher. I have been to HI about 5 times. Just like any other state I'm sure the districts vary. Can anybody give me tips or info on what districts are best (Teacher Friendly)...and what districts to avoid?
Hi, I'm looking for penpals for my year four classes. The children are 8 and 9, there are approximatley 45 children in the year group and we are located just outside London. Obviously, I want to be sure that they are contacting other students only. As they have decided they want penpals from Hawaii and I thought this might be a good way to find a school or schools to link with. If you think you would be interested then please contact me.
Hello everyone ! I am currently applying for my first teaching position ( Elementary Special Education ) in the state of Hawaii. I am looking for some suggestions from teachers on districts , specific islands, etc. The Hawaii Public Schools Application asks for preferences and I am completely clueless because I only started researching now and have never visited Hawaii. Please offer some advice and suggestions. Thank you for your help !!! * Clara
Aloha Clara, Real basics: All island have varing weather, cooler, wetter, dryer, hotter, etc. - Oahu is the Big City and most expensive for housing, however lower for food costs, - Maui is overcrowded and now has Reg. gas at $4.00 gallon, highest in state, - Kauai - more rural, has been hit with a couple of hurricanes over past 15 years, - Big Island - largest island, rural, has a live active volcano and earthquakes, plus snow on mountains.
We've been here since 1984, camped and hung out on all islands, and decided the Big Island was where we wanted to live. "It just felt different". I've been teaching at a Kona side high school since 2000.
Don't want to say much else, because my comments could be taken as wrong way, other than the majority of schools are really old and the state's list of repairs never gets any shorter.
Go to visitor websites for Hawaii, and the state government site for Hawaii and get a feel for everything.
Good luck

Hi. I'm an experienced social studies and business teacher (completeing 7 years). My family and I are wanting to relocate to Hawaii and are wondering if anyone knows of any places that may need someone in those subject areas. I have taught primarily in Middle School, but hold a secondary licence in my state for grades 7-12 and have some experience as an adjunct instructor at the college level. If anyone could provide some assistance I would be grateful. Thanks in advance.
Social studies is an area where we have way too many teachers and too few positions. It is not at all a high need area in any part of the state, from what I know. I am not sure about business, but I know in my area, it is definitely not a high needs as schools focus so much on math and reading for the state tests. Some schools might not even offer that as an elective. If you are truly interested, your best bet is to apply and see what you can find out. They have recruitment interviews on the mainland from time to tmie and you can get a lot more info from one of the recruiters.
