Are the public schools on O'ahu currently hiring teachers? I know a teacher who has been teaching for seven years. He teaches 5th grade with a Masters degree in administration and is nationally board certified. He recently won "teacher of the year" at his school. He is also his grade level chair. He is a very dedicated teacher. Would it be difficult for a teacher like this to obtain a position in Honolulu (in today’s economy)?? He is interested in both the public and private sectors. He has lived in Hawai'i before and really would like to move back in one year and start teaching elementary school. His wife is working on obtaining her RN license and would like to move back to Hawai'i as well. The two would like to work hard in Hawai'i and give back to the community while making Hawai’i a forever home. Any information would be greatly appreciated!
From what I remember the woman telling me, the state of Hawaii does not require its teachers to be certified. So if you are certified and have a masters degree I'm sure it would be easy to obtain a job in Hawaii. Also having "teacher of the year" on your resume will definitely help.

I've just finished my teacher qualification and would love to teach French in Hawaii. I'm belgian and French is my mothertongue. I have already been to Hawaii twice and I love your culture, the warmhearted people and the wonderful country you have the chance to live in! I'd love to make it my home too!! Do you think there are full-time job opportunities for me? If so, where can I get the information?

E...See MoreThis survey concerns all teachers; novice and veteran.
Please take time to complete this survey. It is for a thesis statement. I would appreciate your thoughts and opinions. After all, if it does not currently concern you, it will eventually. Results will be posted at the end of July, 2009.
Julie TomlinsonThe agency is/was Hawaii Substitute Personnel Service, Rebecca Woodland-Hawley. I am going through the same process you are applying for a job needing details. If I get the information, I'll let you know, but you'll need to email me because I doubt I'll find this post again due to an extremely busy schedule.
