Would love to have Hawaii represented in a postcard exchange! I am getting ready to e-mail out the info this weekend.

The only requirements is to participate and have fun! You choose the educational information you want your students to include. If stuck, I'll provide ideas.

I look forward to hearing from you soon! (First come, f...See More
I have a situation where I would like other people's opinion. Two weeks ago, my schools enrollment went up and my principal asked if I would like to teach on my conference period (which is an extra $10,000). Everything was going great until another teacher found out that because of the master schedule, they would have to change their conference per...See More

Hi, I recently read about the upcoming teacher furlough days. How do the teachers really feel about this? I taught in Georgia for a bit and they also have furlough days, although nothing like Hawaii. Give me your thoughts:)

Do any current HI teachers have any idea regarding job outlook for the 2010 - 2011 school year? Public or Private? It has been our long term goal for years now to move to Hawai'i (back to HI for my wife). I am very worried about the possibility there may not be ANY openings! I'm a national board certified elementary teacher with 8 years teaching ex...See More
Andy Jones My guess is that, if you are National Board Certified, you'd be certain to get a job, even during these tough fiscal times. There are so many underqualified teachers in Hawaii due to the teacher shortage (I can't remember what the exact percentage is, but I believe it's higher than 60% in HI - classrooms filled with non-highly qualified teachers, t...See More

I'm wondering what it would take for me (a certified Alberta teacher) to move to Hawaii and teach. I know somehow I would have to become a dual citizen most likely. If anyone has some information on how I would start to line things up let me know. Im willing to move almost anywhere in the state (possibly even California,Miami and Arizona too).
