I've been teaching English in Taiwan for a decade and am
thinking about moving to Hawaii with my wife and two
kids. I have an ESL certificate and would like to get my
education accreditation at the U of H. Can anyone tell me
what the prospects are for an ESL teacher over there?
I've heard there's a big need, but would like to know in
greater depth what I might be getting into. Also, what's
the chance that my wife, who has the equivalent of a
master's degree in education/ESL from a Taiwanese
university but whose mother language is Chinese rather
than English, would be able to find employment?

Many thanks to anyone who cares to reply.

I was wondering the same thing. I guess the best way is to
just take a look at district web sites. I haven't been able
to find too much information.

Problem is jobs are only available to current (union) teachers.
New hires are not allowed to fill positions until after school
year starts. Contact DOE - personal depar...See More
