My district is considering changing from quarter reporting and conferencing to trimesters. WE are trying to find districts that have made the change and how it is working. What steps did you go through? Report card changes? Thanks

My school has trimesters and they work great! I love them! Attendance and grades have been improved greatly, but I live in Indiana and I'm a sophomore.
I'm conducting a one question survey. If you have taken the Praxis II Content Knowledge Exam in your discipline, did you find the exam valid? Yes or No and Why or why not? This information will be used to determine whether or not to use this exam as a measure of content knowledge for teachers applying for advanced compensation. We already have portfolio and performance measurements, but we are trying to determine which exam would be appropriate to get an objective measure of content knowledge.
Looking in eastern Iowa/western Illinois--- Was harassed by a vice principal with power at a very vulnerable time in my life, to quit a job I loved. Now I am unemployed. It is a long and very sad story that shouldn't happen to anyone. I am also an advocate of 504 plans and am interested in seeing teacher training so that these plans can work. Would love to hear from anyone with information on either subject. Thanks---MEME
The Center on Alcohol Marketing and Youth is a new public health project at Georgetown University funded by The Pew Charitable Trusts and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. We're focusing attention and action on alcohol industry marketing practices that jeopardize the health and safety of youth, and hope to be active in Iowa. The information we produce is often troubling to teachers and parents, since the alcohol industry places ads where adults are less likely to see them.
Some of our findings to date are:
* Youth ages 12-20 saw 45% more beer magazine ads and 27% more hard liquor magazine ads in 2001 than people over 21. That same age group saw 95 percent more beer magazine ads than people over age 35. Yet youth saw 58% fewer magazine ads for wine.
* Youth saw 60% more magazine ads for "malternatives," or sweet low-alcohol refreshers like Smirnoff Ice and Mike's Hard Lemonade, than adults.
* Youth saw more television commercials for beer and ale than for fruit juice, gum, chips, sneakers or jeans in 2001.
* One quarter of alcohol advertising on television in 2001 was more likely to be seen by youth than adults.

Celebrate Youth Art Month with a free-loan program from the National Gallery of Art. Our program has over 120 titles that range in format from color slide programs and teaching packets, to videocassettes, videodiscs, as well as cd-roms and dvd's. The varied program topics provide opportunities for use in non-art curricula such as social studies, literature, and foreign languages. Information about the free-loan program can be found at: [link removed].
What better reason to not cut education than the fact our representatives on both a state and federal level can't balance a budget? A failing economy works in favor of terrorism. Check out taxpayer advocate sites, [link removed]
