Hello,

My wife is considering teaching in Iowa vs. Illinois and I
was wondering about Iowa's retirement system for
teachers. I believe that Illinois pays 75% of best three
years of pay. Is there a website for the retirement
system in Iowa, or can anyone fill me in?

The info that I am looking for is percentage of payout at
retirement and what age can a teacher retire at? What is
the amount that an employee must pay into retirement
system montly or is it up to the individual schools and
union contracts.

Thanks,

Joe

Janahn Kolden Check out this webiste. If I am reading the charts correctly the most you can receive in Iowa is 65%. They use a rule of 88 Age + Yrs of Service =88. Yes in Illinois it is 75% for now anyway.
