I really like the Twin Falls area and would like to know about the school districts around there. How are the job opportunities? How is the pay? I have 15 years experience in elementary and middle school (exploratory, history, English, pre-algebra and art) and almost have my Master's in Literacy from good ole ISU. I'm a transplant from the East coast - lived in Pocatello for 18 years but not interested in moving back east. Also, how's the housing market there? Is it exploding like Boise? Thanks....
I am looking for a teacher who taught in the Boise-Parma- Payette area about 35 years ago. His name is Mr. Lindsay. I think his first name was Jonathan or some form of that was his first name. Can anyone help me? Or suggest somewhere for me to search? Thank you. (PS. You don't know how nervious I was since so many teachers would be reading this! Do kids ever get over the fear of teachers?)

Ouch! Can't help with finding the teacher, but had to comment on the `fear of teacher' question:
I have students from prior semesters and years stop by my classroom to show me work they're doing, ask for help, or just say hi. Fear? Boy, I hope not--that's not why I went into this line of work. . .
Hello! I'm looking to relocate in Boise next year. I'm a French speaking Belgian, currently working as a journalist, with a college diploma in communication studies. I would very much like to become a French teacher in Idaho, but I have not idea where to start, and what certification I would need to be able to achieve this. Can anyone recommend some sources?
Val, Locate the Idaho Department of Education web site. You should find everything you need to know there. Good Luck. laststraw On 11/01/05, Val wrote: > Hello! Student entries must reflect the theme "Igniting Creative Energy" and demonstrate an understanding of what an individual can do to make a difference in their home, school and community. Students can express their ideas in the form of science projects, essays, stories. artwork. photographs music etc. 3 lucky students and 1 teacher will win a trip to Hawaii. There will be specail incentives for idaho students and teachers. Contests ends February 18. Please visit website [link removed].
I am currently a student at the University of Nevada, Reno. I have almost completed a dual license program which will allow me to have licenses in both Special Education and Elementary Education. I am really interested in moving to Idaho and I was wondering what the average teaching salary was for this state. If anyone finds out please let me know. Thank you!
Greetings from a fellow UNR graduate! I teach in the Meridian School district. There are many job openings here as we are the largest growing district in the state. The salary will be less than you would make in Nevada and certainly less than you could make in California. The cost of living is less here and the working conditions are very nice. Check out the Meridian School District Website. I taught at Hug High and in Los Angeles before moving to Idaho....this is a teacher's dream. Good Luck
My wife and I are both educators, however my wife is currently taking a few years off to stay home with our daughter. I have taught seven years in California, and we are eager to move to Idaho. However, in order to move to Idaho I need to find a job in administration. Does anyone know of any potential job openings as an assistant principal? Also, does anyone know if there are very many opportunities to enter into administration in the Meridian area?

Thank you for the information, Sheryl. I am very interested in this district after doing some research. Do you know if they have any job fairs in the area? "we do have all four seasons." Wow! How nice! That's one of the main reasons I want to move to Idaho- it's January right now, but in FL we all have the air conditioning on today. UGH! The heat never stops!
