I'm conducting a one question survey. If you have taken the Praxis II Content Knowledge Exam in your discipline, did you find the exam valid? Yes or No and Why or why not? This information will be used to determine whether or not to use this exam as a measure of content knowledge for teachers applying for advanced compensation. We already have portfolio and performance measurements, but we are trying to determine which exam would be appropriate to get an objective measure of content knowledge.
The second installment of our JIMMY JET series has just gone to press. It deals with the national issue of what our children -- and your students -- are encouraged to believe in as our youngest citizens.
I hope you will give it a look. As always a sample lesson plan will be posted to reinforce core issues and extended learning.
"JIMMY JET and the PLEDGE of ALLEGIANCE" -- will be available for your in- school Artist Visit as well as our "ORIGINS" debut issue!
In memory of the Columbia Space Shuttle Crew, I have set aside the regular release schedule of titles and will be doing a special "#0" issue of JIMMY JET illustrating the famous "pilot's prayer" by RCAF Pilot Officer Gillespie Magee. Entitled "HIGH FLIGHT", some of you may remember in the early days of Television, local stations would play a clip of "HIGH FLIGHT" as part of their sign-off ritual.
This year marks the Centennial of manned flight. It has been 100 years since those bicycle brothers took flight. I hope this series of inspirational books proves a fitting metaphor for your students imaginations -- and character.
I am a student at Western State College in Gunnison, CO. I am currently in the Education Department. I am interested in moving to Idaho and doing my student teaching there for the spring of 2004. I just wanted to stick my foot in the door. If anyone has any suggestions, helpful hints that would be great. Keep up with the good work. Thanks Michelle Engel
Everyday I read and hear about people asking for $ for education. Our representatives are about to cut from education. Bin Laden has our government doing exactly as he wants, spending billions of tax $ on war all over the world knowing the way to destroy America is through our economy right hear at home. If we need money for education it's time to show the world education is all you say it is. Start programs in schools to come up with ideas to eliminate Gov. waste and create $ to replace tax $ our representatives can't seem to manage. These kids are the future leaders and given the opportunity can contribute while learning work ethic and how not to depend on anyone else through education. Prove education is all you say it is. Get everyone involved {parents, children, and educators. Check out taxpayer advocates. [link removed]

What better argument could we present to not cut education than the fact that our representatives can't balance the budget? The only one I can think of is that a failing economy works in the favor of terrorism.
Hello. I live in a foreign country. I got my Bachelors degree in Science (in Biology) in USA. I would like to know if there is an extra need for high school teachers in USA? I would like to be a teacher, but I do not have a green card. I was teaching at the college in Florida for some time based on a temporary working visa.
I would like to know if high school principals do working visas for people like me? Feel free to e-mail me if you have some interesting answers for me.
