I'm a music teacher who produces many concerts/performances a year with little time to make stage decorations. I mostly use balloons, some props, Oriental metallic curains, etc.---something simple if I make it myself. Could someone please direct me to a drama/theater teacher chatboard. I've tried entering that title to no avail. Thanks!!!

Long story short, I am just shy if I leave this year, but have a chance to work closer to home and pull a second pension if I pull theirs then finish my IN time once I retire there. But, when I retire from that state system, I would have to do some more IN time to get there pension from TRF. So I'm thinking maybe subbing those last couple of years to make it work out for two checks.
So how many days can I count on from a typical district as a sub?
Anyone else got anything to mention? I talked to a teacher friend of mine that is doing this (pulling two checks from two states) and he really recommended it.
All you need to do is submit your name and school address. I will add your name to a database of other teachers. In mid-to late October, you will address a post card (with a pic of the area you live and info about your state) to the schools listed. In return, you should receive a post card from the other schools.
Worried about the cost? I am going to ask parents for donations of stamps and possibly post cards. I am going to see if I can get any stores to donate the post cards, as well.
I plan to post a map of the U.S. in the hall and hang the post cards around it with the cities marked. Also, you can put in the address in Google Earth and find the locations that way too.
Everyone keeps writing that they passed because of this study guide. what is the name of this guide that everyone is taking about and where do I get it... are you talking abt the praxis guide or is there one that someone recommends. Thanks to all

Need Help finding contact information for an Indiana History Newspaper. I saw this many years ago when I was teaching at a different school, I saved a copy, but now I can't find it. If anyone can provide the contact information, please reply. Thank You.

Administrators and teachers constantly engage in a host of activities within the course of their work which essentially equate to self-directed PD. Why not earn credit?
Just find 5-10 others with a common interest/need, collaborate and follow the four easy steps below. Some exampled of groups could be you and the teachers in your team/department, a groupd of teachers from your district or multiple districts anywhere in the country, a school leadership team, a group of administrators (whether in your district, or across the country). The only requirement is that you all agree to pursue study of a common topic.
4 Easy Steps -
1) Form a group of 5-10 colleagues or friends with a common interest/need 2) Identify a focus topic 3) Collaborate with ASPD to develop a study plan 4) Implement the plan, communicate with ASPD, and earn credit upon successful completion
Some ideas -
*Professional development retreat(s) around NCLB issues (day, weekend, week, once a month, etc.) *Professional book study group (e.g., the latest ASCD book) *Conduct online research to locate and evaluate resources *Collaborate to develop a new resource (e.g., using wiki technology or an online book application) *Conduct on-site visits to other schools implementing programs of interest to you or your school *Other ideas??????
