I have found 2 less expensive and faster options online than Indiana colleges.
Indiana colleges charge too much for teacher renewal work IMO.
Not to mention that Indiana makes it to difficult to get certified in the first place.
Having been out of school awhile now and talked to so many teachers from out of state that are shocked at how difficult Indiana makes it to get licensed and stay licensed - I know that it is eaaier, faster and cheaper elsewhere.
I already have around 200 college credit hours - and still! have to take more classes to keep my license current - even though there is a lack of jobs and many teachers end of subbing or working in a support role.
And of course those jobs pay less and it can be expensive to take traditional classes at Indiana colleges.
I was hopint I would find some less expensive and faster alternatives to the 2 I have found.
call Indy to find out how hard this will be. > > There are online courses from IWU, Ball State, Purdue Calumet, > etc. I believe though that now the majority of these would be > traditional in time (begin soon to be done by December). > > On 7/23/09, Luisa wrote: >> I am looking for fast graduate renewal credit to renew my >> teachng license in Indiana under rules 46 -47. >> >> I have been working outside the teaching area for awhile an >> let my license lapse. >> >> Now been laid off and looking at getting back into the >> teaching area again. >> >> I prefer something online that I can do very quickly. >> >> I can't do the crus on my license. >> >> Thanks for any advice to get it done quickly.

If you can find nothing else, take it. But go in with open eyes. I used to sub there. It was awful. I even moved out of the school district so my kids would not have to go there.

True, there are a lot of problems in Michigan City, but it is a great opportunity to make a difference in children's lives. MC needs committed teachers who care about kids succeeding!
Teachers are to report 8-12 (NW Ind)full day and then our student body comes in 8-13-09. I went back for a short time yesterday to pick up a few things. I'll go back Monday or Tuesday...to run copies. With the changes by the governor.....this year will seems so long. I have high school freshmen thru seniors. I better take some vitamins. Good luck!
No, change is never easy for anyone, but sometimes it is necessary and one needs to find the value in the long run that makes it better for kids in today's world. Sorry, I was not supportive of your comment.

Be prepared to spend your own money for the classroom needs of your students. Be prepared to hear that teachers make too much even though they are college educated.
We only need these states to complete our postcard exchange: DELAWARE, INDIANA, IOWA, MINNESOTA, MONTANA, NEBRASKA, NEW HAMPSHIRE, NORTH DAKOTA,VERMONT,and WYOMING
Tri-County MS HS needs a H.S. English teacher. 2 classes of senior English, a creative writing class, and I'm not sure what else.....We just started the yr. 8-13-09.... good staff and administration.
