I took the Art Praxis 0135 in April 2013. We were ...See MoreI recently went through the Connecticut ARC program . I was successful in in student teaching. I passed all the assignments that I was given. The program began in October 2011 and concluded in May 2012. Passing the Art Praxis 0135 by a deadline of May 2013 is the final leg toward success.
I took the Art Praxis 0135 in April 2013. We were told to bring 8X11 printed samples of our own art to used on the Essay. We were told not to staple the art Work that we brought and to just take the art prints home. I recall that the instructions printed on the actual test said to staple it. I do not know how they can grade an essay on an art piece when the picture is not attached, but I followed instructions given by the proctor.I failed the test.
Took the Art praxis 0135 test again in July 2012. The test was in a live classroom due to space limitations. There was a divider, but I was still listening to people discussing type "S"" corporations verses "LTD" and so forth. I really had trouble trying to focus. I just tried my best to ignore the legal terms being discussed as they had nothing at all to do with my Art Praxis. At the conclusion, we were instructed to staple the art work and yet in April, I recall be told not to staple anything. Despite the noise, I tried my very best. I missed passing by a single point.
The next available test date was November 3, 2012. This was cancelled due to the storm SANDY. No rain date..told to reschedule.
For my ARC program, my deadline to pass the 0135 Art Praxis is May 30, 2013.
The only two dates available are January 26th 2013, and April 20th 2013, however those two test are for the ART PRAXIS 0134. The ETS Representative assured me it was the same test, so I signed up and paid via AMEX
The actual ART PRAXIS 0135 is not offered until July ! ETS only offers the ART PRAXIS on just a few dates per year. I had to schedule on dates that were actually available . The computer given tests are abundantly available , but art is a paper given test.
ETS is not easy to work with. the rules as well as the testing environment changed each time I took the test.
I have to contact the woman in charge of ARC about my situation. If the 0135 is the only test that will suffice then the ARC program will be a bust for me.
I managed to find a sympathetic CSR at ETS. The only Art Praxis available prior to my May 30, 2013 deadline is the Art Praxis #0134. It is available January 2013, and April 2013. The paperwork that I have in my original ARC packet specifies Art Praxis #0135, which is not available until July 20, 2013. The Art Praxis series is unlike the other tests because it is a paper test and not offered on very many dates. The CSR, that I spoke with, told me that, ETS has cut back on testing dates for 2013.
At this point, my only option is to contact Maria and ask if the Art #0134 will suffice. The CSR at ETS gave me her assurance that the # 0134 and #0135 are the same, but I have my concerns. Maria will be the final word.
Since my Test scores have been so close, I feel confidant that I could nail this test on the third try, but I need the opportunity to do so. I am beginning to wonder if the Universe has another plan for me to follow.

I thought there were a lot of kinda obscure artists and subjective questions. THe questions were either super easy (what is slip) to really tough. Some of the trickier questions were Who was important Harlem Renaissance photographer (Van der Zee), who said "I see art in pebbles, rocks and shells?" (Robert Smithson?), What type of art was influenced by Lee Krasner?, What was Thomas Moore's contribution (?), Who did large-scale photos of friends and artists (Chuck Close), What type of material did Benin artists specialize in? (wood, iron, bronze or clay) What was the main influence in the subject matter of Harlem Renaissance artist, Aaron Douglas? (Ancient Egyptian), question about how Rousseau's "Sleeping Gypsy" and that it was heralded because of its design, imagination, use of colors or primitive style. Q- What was unique style of Jenny Holzer's art? (art consisted mainly of words and phrases). There was a question on which artist's piece was mainly influenced by African art (I chose Picasso piece?), question on what Whistler's "Rockets in night sky" and what he said about it? Q- How did the artist express texture in Japanese "Boy with a Flute?" line, shading, form or ? I was expecting more questions on the "Masters." I have to say it was tougher than I expected.
I took the test two days ago and study what is exactly on this chat board from August 2012 until now. About 85% of what I studied on here was on the test. It will truly help. Thanks for those who posted before me.
Rahkie MateenI am also looking for info for the 0135. I ordered the wrong Praxis study guide and I was informed that it won't help me on the 0135 Praxis.
ESSAY: Name a work of art that was considered propoganda and why? Using your own art relate to a historically significant issue.
