Has anyone else been told they can hang nothing on any outside walls, display nothing on any halls in your building, and only 20% of wall space can have anything on it per fire marshall????
Our building looks like a prison....this just came down last week.

Hi, I teach in Dallas, Texas, and I have written a book about my first-year teaching experiences. It is called Learn Me Good. It is self-published, so I don't have the publicity machine that a lot of books do. This is why I'm asking for your assistance. Learn Me Good is being carried in many of the Borders bookstores in Indiana. You could REALLY help me out by visiting your local Borders and asking about it. If it is already carried at your Borders, the buzz will be helpful, and if it is not carried at your Borders, asking about it might get them interested. Plus(and I state this with bias, of course), Learn Me Good is a funny story that I know you would enjoy. Thanks a lot in advance for your help,
Can someone tell me when teaching positions open up for out of state teachers who would like to transfer to your state? I am considering moving from Las Vegas, Nevada to a more family friendly town. What is Indianapolis like as far as being family oriented, friendly, schools, etc?
Any suggestions for where to live, work? thanks. carol
Finding a job in Indiana is next to impossible. We have so many colleges and no one leaves their positions. Your best bet is Indy, but you may have to try private or sub.
We had one opening last year and my principal received over 500 qualified applications.
And then...if you have experience or a masters forget it...they want cheap, cheap, cheap because so many of the teachers have been there 30-40 years and topped out the payscale.
Sorry for your luck...stay where you are if you want a job.

We are having a class reunion and are looking for the whereabouts of Elaine Patrick. She taught elementary in the Indianapolis area. She might have gotten married to somebody named Callahan. We are not sure. would appreciate it if you taught with her to contact me or have her contact me.

Thank you very much for your help! Hopefully, I will be able to find her there.
Would love to have input from other teachers. Take a look at the Teachers Connect link and become a member of teachers connect. Your thoughts would be welcomed.

I thought you'd want to know that Dr. Robert J. Marzano, renowned education expert, is coming near Chicago to keynote Wavelength's "Engaged Learning, Achievement and Humor Conference". The conference is Nov 7 & 8 and registration is now open. The early bird special closes June 30.
What would be a great district to work in Indiana (in terms of available jobs, good salary, good students, nice area, etc)?
My fiancée and I are thinking about moving out of Michigan, due to the poor economy there. We are 27 and 25, and we both just received our teaching certificates (secondary) and I have endorsements in Physics and Earth/Space Sciences, and she has endorsements in Social Studies, History, Spanish, and ESL.
and, with your certifications, you should both be able to find jobs in our areas. Physics teachers are few and far between, and our Spanish-speaking immigrant population is exploding.
Hi, I am a college student who is planning on taking the Praxis II this summer! I am very nervous because I have not taken classes at my university to prepare me for the test yet do to me being a transfer student. If anyone has any advice how what area's I should concentrate in learning and other resources that would be great!!
Yes do as she says, the best study guides are the one that praxis puts out. That is how I past. If you know someone work with them on it. Char

I need to teacher summer school in the state of Indiania, where I worked for 14 years, but now need to have a short term contract for purposes of retirement benefits. I am a fine arts teacher (music) but would do anything during the summer for which I could be hired. Are there school systems that just cannot find enough help for the summer? I'd appreciate any leads!
No, I have heard nothing about that.
