Hi Folks, I've been teaching for 14 years in NJ and am considering relocating to Northeast Indiana, the Butler area perhaps. I'm wondering if teachers are needed in Indiana or if the market is flooded. Also, those of you who are veterans, how do you feel about the educational system in the state in general? Can anyone offer resources, in print or online, that an out of state person may be able to look into? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
IN Teacher What is your area? Indiana is flooded in some areas, not at all in others. I grew up near Butler, and lived there for years before moving on to another area of the state. IN Teacher Most schools will cap you on experience as a teacher (5 years if you have 12 years, etc). Administrators usually get to negotiate on their salary. The Indiana Employment Relations Board has teacher contracts online. You have to get a password to use their site, just ask for one and you can see the salaries and language on if they "cap" on experienc...See More
