I hope so too, but I doubt it. I just hope they don't hurt us too much.
Hi Everyone! I am still putting together the Worldwide postcard exchange. We still need quite a few states. Just send me your address where you want the postcards sent and the date you start back to school! We want this to be highly successful so please only send your info if you are going to send the postcards! If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. We still need the following states: AL, AK, CO, CT, DE, GA, HI, ID, IN, KY, LA, ME, MD, MA, MS, MO, MT, NH, NM, NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, UT, VT, VA, WV, AND WY. Also, anyone in other countries email me as well! We already have Australia, Romania, Serbia & Montenegro, and several from Canada. I hope everyone is having a great summer! Hope to hear from you soon! Courtney
Several weeks ago, I posted stating my husband had a possible job opportunity in Louisville. This opportunity is still in the making. I am a certified elementary teacher, and I am wishing to know if it is better to teach in Kentucky or Indiana. Also, which state seems to have a lower cost of living and a better quality of life? Which area in Kentuckiana seems to have the greatest need for teachers at the elementary level? Any ideas and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
P.S. I read the post daily, but I rarely post. I do enjoy this site. I'm originally from Arkansas but currently live in Southern California. I (we) are so tired of the big city life. I (we) would welcome a move to the Kentuckiana area. Although, the Louisville Metroplex Area is large, I was pleased to find that rural areas of Kentuckiana are very commutable to Louisville. My family (husband and three children--me, too) really need a change of scenery.
I am now 4 years and 168 days from retirement! I have always heard that you should start visiting the Teachers' Retirement Office annually when you are five years from retirement. So...two friends and I went to the office this summer. I must say that we had a ball! The counselors were so friendly and helpful that we were very comfortable talking to them. I was absolutely amazed at the amount they projected for my retirement. Even though collegues have told me that their monthly retirement checks were only about $100.00 less than their last month's salary, it was hard to believe. Now, getting my own projected annunity printout has convinced me. Why any teacher would stay longer than 27 years, when the retirement annunity is so good, is beyond me.
If you have visited the Teachers' Retirement Office, tell us about your experience.
You are right. If you have a full benefit (not reduced because of lack of years) your monthly retirement pension will be very close to your take home pay while teaching.
In addition to that good news, I found a fun way to supplement my pension. Send me an email and I will be glad to share.

My name is Courtney Wright and I am a graduate of Peabody College of Vanderbilt with secondary certification (7-12) in English. Currently, I am a graduate student at Northwestern University working under the direction of Dr. Michael E. Roloff in the Department of Communication Studies with a concentration in Interaction and Social Influence. For my 2nd year project, Professor Michael E. Roloff and I are conducting a research study entitled, Classroom justice, principled dissent, and tenure status: Instructor reactions to perceived unfairness (IRB Project # 0423-055). The purpose of this research study is to explore instructor perceptions of, and reactions to, justice violations within school policies and procedures.
I am in desperate need of a population to sample and thus I am asking you, my fellow educators, if you would be willing to volunteer for my study and complete a questionnaire (the link is provided below). I am very interested in having your viewpoints included in this study and would greatly appreciate your being willing to spare a little bit of your time (approximately 45 minutes) to help a fellow educator and hardworking graduate student. The Northwestern University Institutional Review Board (IRB) has approved this research study and your participation will be completely confidential.
Please be gracious enough to complete and return the questionnaire [link provided below] via email. Directions to guide you through this technological process are included below. Because this is a “snowball” survey, we (Professor Roloff and myself) would appreciate it if you would forward this email to at least two fellow educators, one with tenure status and one without. We will appreciate any, and all input we receive regarding instructor perceptions of justice violations in school policies and procedures. Thank you in advance for your support!
Feel free to email me at c-[email removed].
Sincerely,
Dr. Michael E. Roloff, Faculty Investigator m-[email removed]

hey guys, I was wondering if any of you were certified in TN and then had to be certified for ky,like if you had moved to KY...if so .how hard was it?..
We have recently been doing some screen printing for area schools and sports teams. We have been offering special pricing to schools to accommodate their new dress codes as well as to area sports teams. Below you will find prices on shirts AND printing for a few of the t-shirts and sweatshirts we do. Of course, we do sweatpants, many other colors, jackets, caps, etc.- anything you would expect in a screen print shop around since 1990.
Many people find it handy to print these out and highlight those items that are useful to them. Then look at what you’ve been spending. Give Mike or Tim a call at 859-734- 4561 or drop us a line at [email removed]>-----------------
