Time is running out to bring an AFS foreign exchange student into your home, school and community for the comming school year. Several AFS students assigned to the Miss Tennky AFS Volunteer Leadership Team area still need placements for the fall. Those students needing placements are from Thailand (2 females and 1 male) and the Netherlands (1 male). They are all good students and have good English skills. They are eager to find families who are willing to share their hearts and homes with them. They can attend any public or private school with the principal's approval.
Please, call Nadia Clendending at 1-800-876-2377, Ext 118, to be sure which students are still available and to get a copy of the bios ASAP. The students are scheduled to arrive by August 9th. Their families must know where they will be living before they leave their native countries. You may fill out a prelimary application on line at [link removed].
Make a move to make a difference and help spread global peace and understanding.

If you are interested in being a "charter" member of a Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati area chapter of the International Reading Association, please join our group for a luncheon meeting on Wed. August 9th. Email me for details or for an application to join. Eileen
If you are an elementary teacher who would like to participate in a postcard exchange, email me your school address and your grade level. You would need to send out postcards from your state and in exchange your class would receive postcards from other states. It is great fun for students to learn about "snail mail" and to learn about our country. I hope you can join us! Eileen

It is very hard to find a job in central KY. It's the good ol' boy theme.

I live in KY and am looking to finish up my degree after a long absence from the teacher liscensure program (5yrs, had a baby who is no in kindergarten!) A high school teacher friend of mine said that the state of KY will pay your Stafford Loans if you teach at a Title I school for 5 years. Does anyone know if that is true? How can I verify that?
