I have had 6 interviews and cannot find a job. Calls, letters and emails are ignored. Are other people having trouble finding a teaching job in the Louisville area? I am certified in English and Spanish and have 3 years' experience.

I am certified in art and have been trying for almost two years to get a job with JCPS. I have friends from school who have gotten jobs but they have all known someone who got them a job. Unfortunately, that's the best way to get a job here so I would suggest networking with people who are already employed by JCPS. I'm sure a lot of people have told you to try subbing, which I tried but after applying five times I still haven't gotten a call back for subbing. Good luck on your job search, I hope you have better luck than me

I've worked as a classified sub of some sort in my district for going on 10 years and still couldn't get an interview for the only elementary job available! I've used KY REAP with no luck. Not even a "thank you for your interest." I am just trying to stay positive and I will keep subbing until I can find something near by. Have you tried Hardin or Bulitt Counties?
Looking for a second grade class from your state to do a Post Card Exchange. If interested email me your name, School/address and school email. I will send more info later. tu
The first project to take place is our leaf exchange project. In a nutshell, you will choose a preapproved tree to pick leaves from. You will press them and glue them onto cardstock 6x6ish paper. You will label the tree name and state it came from. On the back you can (optional) tell some facts about this specific tree and a little about your classroom. I'm hoping to get at least thirty participants from around the US to join this exchange. This will take place in October 2010. I will include examples of what you can do with your leaves when you get them and how you can connect this project to your state standards.
The other project I have going is the postcard exchange project. I still need one elem. teacher to represent KY. You will need to get or make at least 49 postcards to send to the remaining states in the US. (Not sure if I can get a few other countries to participate yet or not.)
I will include ideas for this project that you can use in your classroom if you so choose. Details will be coming as to what you write, etc...
Thanks, and...See MoreWe are looking for a classroom in Kentucky to join our Postcard Exchange. Most of the participants are first grade classes, but we do have a few second, third, and fourth grade classrooms.

I have just published my first children's book, and using my talents as a Reading Specialist have developed interdisciplinary activities, as well as before, during, and after reading activities for the classroom. There are vocabulary activities and opportunities for your students to write to me about the book and its characters. I am glad to respond to those letters at your request. A physical disability permits me from teaching in the classroom anymore, so I am reaching out to students this way. The main goal of this book is also the part of my job I miss the most: instilling a love of reading and learning in each student. I can visit your classroom by Skype, if you wish, and our website is about to go online. There, you will be able to access the acitivities I spoke of earlier. The obok is called Harley Hits a Homer, and I am so pleased with the positive way it is being received in the classrooms where it is being used. I'd love to hear from you if you think we could work together on this project. I'd love to hear from your classes and to interact with them. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Let's keep them reading, Tena
