Just thought I would point out that on Schoolspring.com, all there are several posted elementary teaching positions from Worcester, East. Eastern Mass does not seem to be hurting in the same way Western Mass is. In Western Mass, towns are laying off, not hiring. Job hunters, take note!

When it does, it is usually because a teacher accepts a new position during the summer, leaving his/her position open. However, as the previous writer noted, that kind of movement is very limited this year because there are fewer completely new positions, fewer retirements, and fewer teachers giving up what they know for something they don't.
Also, more school districts than ever hired earlier than ever this year; the largest part of the hiring season seemed to be over by late March, if not sooner, probably because districts wanted to fill spots before they lost the money to some other local agency.
If you are looking for a position and are willing to move, get out of Massachusetts. Having been watching the job boards myself for the last several months, there are areas of the country that are definitely still hiring. If you can make the leap, not only will you likely find a more advanced teaching environment that is technologically far ahead of anything local, but you also will likely find yourself happily involved in a satisfying 21st century learning experience.

The school is a ministry of the church, and they strive to keep the tuition down to a respectable level so that more families can have the opportunity for a Christian-based education for their children. Currently there is no music program, as the school cannot afford it without raising the tuition rates.
We are looking for someone to volunteer for about 4 hours per day, one day a week to teach the children grouped in common ages a simple music program.
If you have any interest in sharing your talents for the benefit of young christian children, please contact me!
1. As student achievement and a greater understanding of curriculum have become more relevant, what are some ways you have found to apply curriculum to previous knowledge? 2. Technology seems to be the way in which education is steering itself. Some believe that technology can lead the way and eventually produce better schools, while others believe that there may be long-term consequences that are not being considered in the rush to use technology. What are your thoughts on this issue? 3. NCLB states that the equitable distribution clause requires states to take steps to “ensure that poor and minority children are not taught at higher rates as other children by inexperienced, unqualified, or out-of-field teachers.” What are you beliefs on this subject and why? 4. How do you view the NCLB act? What is your opinion on the matter? 5. In your years of experience do you feel that your teaching philosophy has helped or harmed your classroom? Have you had to change it? 6. How do you talk to a parent who may not agree with you as a teacher? 7. What steps do you take in the classroom to implement NCLB while obtaining Higher Order Thinking levels for those students? 8. How does your overall school mission coincide with your classroom philosophy that addresses a safe learning environment? 9. How do the styles/ methods you use today differ from those that you used when you first begin teaching, what brought about the change? 10. In your opinion what should the desired outcome (socially, economically, and politically) of the teacher be when teaching students?
