From: Joe Boston Teacher Residency Program Graduate Student "The last math course I took was my freshmen year of college in 1999, but after only eight sessions with Chris I was able to pass the Middle School Math MTEL exam on my first attempt. Chris is an excellent tutor and I highly recommend his services. He is extremely professional, flexible, patient and knowledgeable. What I appreciate the most however, is how effective the time and effort spent working with Chris was for me. Prior to working with Chris I had no idea on how to prepare for the MTEL exam. After our very first session Chris was able to identify my strengths and weaknesses and devise a plan for me to pass the test. Over the next seven weeks Chris gave me the skills, strategies and confidence to pass the exam. I really can't thank him enough for helping me so much!"
Cathy “I have ALWAYS had trouble with math. I have taken and failed the MTEL General Curriculum Math Subtest twice. Studying on my own was not cutting it, so I searched for a private tutor. I found Chris Abraham online and it was the best thing I ever did. With his help, I have passed the Math subtest and will be receiving my certicifcation in Massachusetts! There is NO WAY I could have done it with the help of Chris Abraham.”

“I just wanted to email you to let you know that I PASSED the Math MTEL with a score higher than 240! I was so excited and I owe my success to your tutoring. I couldn't have done it without your explanations, tricks, and detailed information. Thank you.”
David
“I just wanted to let you know that I received my results and I passed the 47 test!!! Thanks again for the help!!! Keep up the good work!”

“I wanted to let you know that I passed the Math MTEL that I took back in July. So happy that's behind me. Thank you again for your help.” From: Eileen Rachel I had participated in previous MTEL prep sessions, but never have I received tutoring on this type of professional and educational level. Chris did a wonderful job examining where I had difficulties and providing me with the tools necessary to work through the problems. I definitely feel more confident heading in to the examination thanks to his assistance. Rachel

“The first step in my preparation for the 47 MTEL test was to buy the REA prep book, but I found the explanations less than helpful and I soon realized that I did not have an effective study strategy. Chris met with me for just 3 two hour sessions, and I felt more confident at the end of each session. Chris was quickly able to identify the areas I was competent in, but more importantly, the areas that needed some attention. Chris pinpointed these areas and sent an email after each session with specific problems and homework assignments. I feel much more confident in my ability to pass this test than I did just 3 weeks ago. Thanks Chris!”

"I contacted Chris after I found him on the internet and needed to pass the Mtel gen. curriculum. I am a special ed teacher in the city of Lowell and am trying to obtain my license. Chris helped me get on track and broke down the test using strategies and examples. We were able to cover a lot of content in a short amount of time. The sessions were flexible and paced to your ability. I recommend Chris to anyone who may be having difficulty passing this test."

As a person who finds math challenging, the MTEL math subtest intimidated me. My goal was to pass it the first time and after studying for several months by myself with several textbooks, I was still unsure of my ability to accomplish that goal. That's when I found Chris. I invested my resources into his 10 week individual tutoring sessions as well as the 1 day workshop right before the test. Scheduling time was a snap; being tutored right in your own home is priceless. With Chris's help, I studied concepts that were challenging, learned strategies that I could use to solve all sorts of problems, and focused on the material that would most likely be on the test. It seemed less overwhelming as I studied with Chris. The outcome? I accomplished my goal; passed it with flying colors! Thanks Chris!

Chris is an excellent and extremely patient and caring teacher. He took the time, was very flexible with scheduling and very thorough with the content that needed to be covered (and made sure to boost confidence as well). The MTEL Math General Curriculum is a daunting exam for so many teachers, but I walked out of his tutoring and workshop much better prepared than I have ever been for an MTEL. It was money, time and effort very well spent. Chris is an excellent and extremely patient and caring teacher. July, 2010 GEN. CURRICULUM MTEL - 1-on-1 Tutoring “Chris!! I should have e-mailed you earlier to tell you the good news. I passed my math MTEL on the first try this past July. No doubt with much thanks to you!! Thank you.”
Definitely Shannon stay with Science. Elementary teachers are a dime a dozen. I teach special education but have taught science as well. Prospective elementary majors stick with math, science, special ed and ESL if you want a job. It is the only way to get in.

She should look into taking an unpaid leave of absence. I know people have done it in my district for up to a year to travel or continue their education.

I think you are going to find this everywhere. It is just a sign of the times. State funding has been cut and they only place to cut is salaries. I was unemployed as a special ed teacher after the school where I worked shut down after the first month. Never in my life did I think I would be unemployed as a special ed teacher. It is crazy and unfortunately I don't think it is going to get better.
