I really would like for someone to go beyond political affiliation and tell me your honest opinion - was Romney a friend to education when he was governor? I'm from another state ( registered independent) and as I look at his possible candidacy, I want to make an informed decision. How did he treat education in your state?

MaGaI agree with the flip flopping, he changes his stance to fit the needs at the time. He also used to make fun of Massachusetts citizens (how "liberal" we are, yet we voted for him). He is inconsistent with his positions, and he is a friend of big business. He may not have raised taxes (much) but he did raise every fee he could. My question is this: is the preliminary license just as attractive to a school as an initial license, or at least, closely so? Would a candidate with my teaching experience and degree and a preliminary license still be pretty much ignored in favor of those with an initial license?
Does that make sense? Basically I want to know if its worth it to pay to take the tests and get the license or if its really not going to make a difference until I take a formal educator preparation program?

I used to work in industry with a PhD degree.I recently want to change my career path to be a high school physics teacher. Just obtained the preliminary license for Physics (8-12) and Math (8-12).
Since I do not have much teaching experience (only got tutoring and some limited substitue teaching experience) and I am a foreigner (with green card), is it easy to get a teaching position for my situation? Or should I take an education program first?
I have one more question regarding the education program. There are two education programs offered near my region: UMass Lowell and Merrimack Education Center (Fitchburg state university). Do you have any idea in terms of quality of the program, which one is better?
Thanks a lot!

If you have to go the full certification route, I would also look into tutoring middle or high school students possibly to see who you might prefer. (With your educational background and work experience, a great secondary school would seem like a good fit.) In the metro DC area my son-in-law, a former math high school teacher, routinely earns around $60-65/hour for math tutoring. It would help keep your hand in the skills set and give you at least some personal confidence that you can reach the teens.
I'm currently in the United States with the intention of contact with teachers who could be interested in making an educational project for the next academic course 2011-2012, so that science students from Malaga and USA could make a collaborative work and establish a rewarding relationship, using the new technologies.
I´ve already done a science project to enable our students to meet students from another country, while working together and improve their science skills.
If you are interested, I could sent you the project and we could change it, since it´s a flexible project.
I´d like to have the opportunity, also, to visit some schools in Usa to learn about the U.S. educational system, the methodologies used, the available resources ... Would appreciate someone gives me the opportunity to make a visit to your school.
