Jaron HMDid you have to do a teacher ed program to get your provisional license ? If so, you should be able to submit transcripts and your endorsement letter, if it is not on the transcript, and take the MTELs and you should be eligible for an initial license.
Is your license in secondary or elementary education
1. Society expecting teachers to solve all the ills. Parents believe that they can absolve themselves of responsibility for their own kids and blame teachers for their own missteps. And teachers/schools willingly take on this unattainable challenge.
2. Too many people getting into education, especially elementary education, because they have no idea what else to do. They don't really have a passion for teaching, they just need a job.
3. Administrators who are unwilling to give a particular curriculum a chance before deciding to change it. Two or three years simply is not enough time for students (or teachers or parents) to get comfortable with a curriculum.
4. Higher Education that is unwilling or unable to change with the times forcing kids who may have been exposed to a progressive curriculum to regress to a more teacher centered/lecture style instruction which they are not prepared for.

From: Noelle As a person who finds math challenging, the MTEL math subtest intimidated me. My goal was to pass it the first time and after studying for several months by myself with several textbooks, I was still unsure of my ability to accomplish that goal. That's when I found Chris. I invested my resources into his 10 week individual tutoring sessions as well as the 1 day workshop right before the test. Scheduling time was a snap; being tutored right in your own home is priceless. With Chris's help, I studied concepts that were challenging, learned strategies that I could use to solve all sorts of problems, and focused on the material that would most likely be on the test. It seemed less overwhelming as I studied with Chris. The outcome? I accomplished my goal; passed it with flying colors! Thanks Chris!
From: Shannon Chris is an excellent and extremely patient and caring teacher. He took the time, was very flexible with scheduling and very thorough with the content that needed to be covered (and made sure to boost confidence as well). The MTEL Math General Curriculum is a daunting exam for so many teachers, but I walked out of his tutoring and workshop much better prepared than I have ever been for an MTEL. It was money, time and effort very well spent. Chris is an excellent and extremely patient and caring teacher. "Hi Chris, I thought that the test went really well. I was able to use a lot of your strategies that you taught us. I also felt so confident with the open response and I feel like I nailed it."
From: Domenico Thank you so much........you are an angel!!!!!
From: Jillian July, 2010 GEN. CURRICULUM MTEL - 1-on-1 Tutoring "Chris!! I should have e-mailed you earlier to tell you the good news. I passed my math MTEL on the first try this past July. No doubt with much thanks to you!! Thank you."
This month I'm taking the MTEL Foundations of Reading test. Based on my study guides, it looks like it will be a very tricky test- did anyone here take it? What did you think?
On 6/18/1...See MoreYou need to work with someone who truly knows the test. I have worked with students regarding the FOR MTEL for 6 years with great success.
I run classes and tutor privately. The test has nothing to do with IQ or grades in college. I know this test well and it is very do-able. You just need some guidance.
