Did you recently do a Masters in ESL for teaching public schools in Massachusetts? I know it's a difficult test even for those who have recently received a masters in ESL in the boston area, but I know many who have passed and have had to take it more then once. Look at info on MTEL PREP ESL on the Fitchburg website which has very useful info. Also Wheelock and Cambridge College periodically have review, but I don't see any thing for this summer. When looking at tutors I would ask if they've taken the most recent ESL MTEL and passed and what their statistics are for getting those they tutor to pass and what resources they are using.
I have yet to meet anyone who has passed the secondary level as well, with or without a MA. I can't even find anyone who is teaching at this level to assist.
If you are willing to tutor, let me know. Thank you.

I've been authorized to give out referral bonuses of $150 per household. This is a US State Department program. Please contact me by email: scott@pralinsky.com - Thanks!

I have a very mean student who is continuously picking on other students every day by physically touching them, hitting them, taking their things, throwing things at them and verbally abusing them. He does this to almost everyone but seems to single out one student more frequently. He makes personal threats to him and insults him and his family. I constantly call for help and he will leave and always return. Sometimes they say "sorry just handle it". I work in an inner city school in western MA and it is a very difficult, needy and low income population. I know administration has their hands full. The picking on this 1 kid has been going on for about 2 weeks but his behavior has gotten progressively worse since sept. He has been suspended once and gotten detention once. I went to my principal last week and he said that they have worse kids and that I have no right to say the "bullying" word and that deciding if it is "bullying" or not would be his decision. I am very worried that something very awful is going to happen if this keeps happening. Also, I am concerned that in the long run I would be help responsible since I am the classroom teacher. My concern is that I am new to the district and do not want to go above his head so I am not sure what to do but I know that I am a mandated reporter of bullying. Is reporting it to my principal enough? Thanks so much for any help you can give me :)
I was thinking of taking the ESL MTEL, not having taken the class, could someone suggest a study guide or book I could review to prepare for it. Thanks
