Teaching in Mass:Prospects for a Canadian

Hello there, I'm wondering if anyone has any insight on job prospects for a certified Canadian teacher, looking to teach in the Greater Boston area? My Bachelor of Education program is recognized by the state of Mass, and I'm wondering what the process is like? I've applied to a handful of private schools, and preps, but I'm wondering if the public boards are even an option. On school spring, most jobs say you have to be an American citizen, or have a valid working visa, but I believe as a teacher, you need to have a job before you can attain a visa.

Any advice would be great.

Sadly, I don't have an answer to your question and am also looking for any help regarding Ontario/ Canadian teachers in MA. I am Canadian working here and my partner (also Canadian) is a teacher in Ontario who is trying to move to Boston.

Jenn I think we're all in the same boat. My partner, we are both Canadian, is a Ontario teacher looking for a Job in Boston. I am currently living here and hoping to get him down here with me in the new year. Has anyone had any luck?

Would love to hear what you know, even if it didn't work.

I think it would really depend on what he can teach. What would he be certified to teach in Mass? If he could speak Spanish or special ed, he might have a shot in Boston. STEM subjects might also have some demand. If we're talking elementary or English, then I don't think it is going to happen. There are plenty of locals who can't get a job teaching in those subjects and no immigration visas are required there.
