I live in MD and am considering applying to some VA counties. Do I need to get my VA license first, or can they hire me conditionally until I meet the VA requirements (a few tests)?
Anyone who has had experience with this, I'm all ears :)

Hi all. I recently signed a contract with PG and I've heard that MD offers 1000 dollars to a new teacher graduating with a 3.5 GPA. I find many places online that cite the 'quality teacher incentive act', so I know it exists...but I don't know how to go about getting it. Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks so much.

Just ask HR, I didn't even know about it until I got a contract.

I recently moved to MD from Ontario, Canada. I am certified to teach at the high school level in Ontario, and I am currently waiting for my foreign credentials evaluation to be completed. What I wanted to know is, what steps can I take to change from the Secondary to the primary level?

I have an opportunity to interview for a full-time art position at a public SpEd school for severely disabled kids. I'm all for it, and will accept an offer if I'm lucky enough to get one. Anyone have advice for working in a school such as this? Any and all comments would be helpful, I can't seem to find any decent information.
Thinking of moving to Loudoun Co. in Virginia and am checking out all surrounding school districts. Would appreciate any feedback on Frederick Co, Montgomery Co., and others in the region.
Having said that, some of the best school...See MoreI don't know anything about Frederick County, but Montgomery, I know a thing or two. Montgomery County definitely offers the best salary scales in Maryland. However, they are a huge school system and have a huge administration to match...and this can make things difficult if you aren't used to it.
Having said that, some of the best schools in Maryland, and in fact the whole USA are in Montgomery County Maryland. (Of course they have some not-so-good schools too). They have very good benefits too.
What subject area/grades would you like to teach?

I live in NY and have NYS certification in Elementary Ed. and Special Ed. 1-6. I have been teaching for 2 years and am looking to relocate in Montgomery County this summer. I called HR at one school, and they said I can't apply without having MD state certification.
Anyone know the process I would have to complete in order to get certified in Maryland?

Please take time to complete this survey. It is for a thesis statement. I would appreciate your thoughts and opinions. After all, if it does not currently concern you, it will eventually. Results will be posted at the end of July, 2009.
