another MD teacher In my experience, you have no say over what school you are assigned to. HR may ask your preference as to what grade level, but it may not mean much. Hi,

Does anyone know, or know where I can find information, about getting certified? I will be graduating next year with a bachelors degree in childhood/special ed from a private college in New York. Thanks!

KarLi I thought that if you have certification in another state, have taken the appropriate tests in that state, then u do not have to take the Praxis. I am finishing my MS in Early Childhood Ed and have taken all the NYS tests. I will be recieving my initial cert in Aug. Am I correct? Thanx!

KarLI NY has thier own tests which r similar to the Praxis. When I called up the certification dept. I was told I wouldnt have to take the Praxis. I would submit my test scores from NY. I will call up again, just to make sure.

Melissa Right now, they virtually have no positions. Same thing with Howard too. AA actually sent out an e-mail saying NOT to contact principals because they are overwhelmed right now and don't really want to be bothered. Sorry :/

holly I work in SMC, I'm surprised you haven't heard something by now...but we just opened a brand new school (first one in 28 years!) so a lot of shifting & rearranging has been going on to accomodate this. I'd call HR and ask about the status.

How hard is it to get a job in Frederick County? Currently, I see that there are no job vacancies for elementary school positions. I feel that they would offer the structured curriculum I am used to.
