I teach in Howard County. Canton is a nice part of Baltimore City. It is right on the water and is close to all the amenities the city has to offer. Baltimore County is competitive. There are good areas and bad areas. take care

Thanks for reading this.
...See MoreHi I am Orton Gillingham trained for teaching reading to Dyslexics. I am also taking the Reading Praxis in November. I hold a current spec ed license and am in grad school for ELL/Leadership. Can anyone suggest a possible employment opportunity for reading? I am willing to travel and live in Anne Arundel County.
Looking for a second grade class from your state to do a Post Card Exchange. If interested email me your name, School/address and school email. I will send more info later. tu
I finally have settled on my pursuing my dream of becoming a teacher. I am about to enroll in classes at PG community college and I wanted some advice on if I should look to take the Praxis soon and if I should bother paying to take a Praxis preparation course? I also wanted to know if I should forget all of that and get into one of the teacher programs like the Resident Teacher Program or the teaching fellows. Any advice would help.
First, congrats on your decision. Second, you should try to get into a resident teacher program like the one PG County offers, but they aren't taking anyone until next April (to start the following school year) and they could potentially discontinue the program altogether, because frankly teaching jobs are hard to come by at the moment--don't let that stop you though.
If you DO get into any teaching program you're going to have to take Praxis I and PRaxis II anyway, so you might as well take it and see how you do. If you get decent grades in college courses you probably don't need a prep course for PRaxis. Study for it, use the online resources through your library. Take it. You can always take it again if you have to. It is not that difficult if you have your math, science, language arts and history facts half-way down.
Best of Luck.

MaestraCharles County hires Spanish teachers every year. They may still have a part time, middle school part time position open, check their website [link removed]
