I have an interview with Harford County schools. Does anyone know if it is necessary to bring a portfolio? When I have interviewed before, no one has ever even looked at it.

The principal did not ask to see it even though she was aware that I had it. I like your suggestion, though, about sending it in advance. If I don't get this job, I'll try that the next time. Thanks for your help.

ASHarford ounty principals do not request portfolios, Baltimore County principals usually don't look at them either.

Does anyone know how much Frederick Co pays long term subs who are certified/licensed? I will probably accept an offer that will begin as a long term sub and become a full time position. Is it $100 a day? Is that net or gross pay? Any advice is cool.
there are many, many elem people teaching ms science with nothing more than passing the PRaxis and having it added to their certificate and doing a great job. Those people did not have the science background that you have!

Are you wanting your students to learn more about the USA this year? If so, you are in luck with the 2008-09 postcard exchange! Our goal is to have every state represented for our exchange. Maryland is not represented yet. If you are wanting to participate, please email me the following information:
name, school name, school address, email, and the grade you teach
Please send all emails to: [email removed]
We only need one person from each state. The first to email me will be able to participate. :)
Hey, I was thinking about moving to MD. I am African American and was wondering if there are counties I should avoid. Has anyone ever faced racial discrimination? I know racism exists all over, but I know that it is prevalent in some areas. Thank you for your reading.
I always searched for the right relationship with people. It always worked. Yes, it hurt deeply. but caring and healing always takes place when you don't give up or give in.
As a blue eyed blonde moving from the North to the South, yes, I have faced reverse discrimination also at Title 1 schools...sometimes even saying "I'M from New York." will bring out the beast...never mind the fact that I grew up in a very small community and have no pretensions at all...I survived on my own in NYC for 3 working years after college...probably NYC is the least judgemental and most open society I found.
