I saw that washington county was giving a bonus for math teachers. Why are they so desperate for math teachers? I remember seeing Tina taught science and wanted math but had to teach science. Can't you get the bonus if you are already teaching there and switch to teaching math? Also, I'd come teach math there but I don't want put at Western Heights...See More

WL I think the opening is at Northern Middle and/or Clear Spring Middle. WCPS was completely staffed for math but a few late openings occurred unexpectedly near the start of school and most people that applied over the summer already had positions with other districts. Tina/8th The bonus is for new teachers of high need areas. Math and Science are both high need areas. I also heard that there was a Math opening at Northern. I know there are none where I am..lol. The county does have a very strong math program and a very demanding but very good Secondary Math Supervisor.

Does anyone know of any full time positions in Wash / Frederick/ Carroll / Mont / Baltimore or surrounding counties for teachers with a BA who do not yet have their test results back for certification? Specifically looking for arts/ dance type programs.

ali Arts is a dead end. there are no jobs for certified teachers. Try to major in science or math.

Meg Jen, Songs are a great way to get any child active and thinking. All of my me ELL students are always actively engaged. Pictures, real items, any tactile examples.

Also, make an effort to learn something about India and relate it....snacks might be a great way to bridge a gap.

I have my BA in Economics already and was curious what the best route to becoming MD certified to teach would be. From what I understand I can go ahead and take the PRAXIS 2 in whatever subject I want to apply for and if I score well enough that is all I need? Do I have this accurate? Good question I believe that the PRAXIS 2 rule is only for those who already have a teaching certificate. You can add on, but not gain your initial without taking classes. For example, I went back to school for my elem and special ed cert (and a Masters.) I can go take a PRAXIS for early childhood and add on to my certifications.

1st year Teacher To get your certification, you have to: Enroll in a MD Accredited teaching program, that includes one year of internship in a public school (one full semester of student teaching, another of helping/observing/etc). I am trying to locate one of my teachers from elementary school during the early sixties. I attend Victory Villa and her name was Barbara Boardman. Does anyone know her? My mother left when I was a small boy and Ms. Boardman had such an impact on me. I never forgot her. I would like to tell her how much I appreciated her. Thanks David

Former Teacher

I am also inquiring about a former teacher of mine from Twinbrook Elementary School. Does anyone know what happened to Deborah Simpson? She was my second and fourth grade teacher and had an impact on my life. There are a lot of great teachers out there and it's always great to keep in touch with those who meant a lot.
