I'm a teacher myself, but on the secondary level. My daughter is in Kindergarten and has been placed in a reading group within the Harcourt program. She is bringing home work that she did when she was 3 in daycare, and is bored to tears. She can read fairly well, able to identify about 70 sight words and decode simple words as well. My question is -- how does the KPA work for leveling students and how can I get her moved into a more challenging group? what ARE the groups? This is ridiculous! Her high freqency word this week was "I". Give me a break!
