Praxis 2

I will teach K-2 in Maryland and am confused which Early Childhood Education Praxis 2 test I should take. My undergrad is ECE and my masters is also ECE. Does anyone know whether I should take ECE Content or ECE Principles of Learning and Teaching... or BOTH? Appreciate any response!

me On the ETS website you can check by state and see what Praxis 2 tests each state requires. Also, call the MSDE certification office. You can find their number online. When I called I had no trouble reaching a live person who was very helpful.

PG Teacher It actually depends on whether or not you took a test to obtain certification in your current state. If the tests you took required you to display pedagogy and content knowledge, you may not have to take the PRAXIS at all. For example, my original certicate was issued in NY. Since NY required a pedagogy test, I only had to take the PRAXIS 2 content...See More

Nancy in MD I got my ECE certification in MD about 2 years ago. At that time you had to take the ECE principals of teaching (pedagogy) test and the elementary content knowledge tests.

Check with MSDE.
