My friend will be relocating to Maryland from New Jersey in roughly 2 years due to BRAC (he works for the army and the base is relocating to Aberdeen). His wife is a teacher with a few years of experience, and will have a few years of tenure built up by the time they move. My sister's mother-in-law is a Maryland public school teacher, and according to her, an out-of-state teacher can carry over something like 5 years of tenure to Maryland. I've been looking for something to back up this claim, and so I'm wondering if anyone knows of any resources for out- of-state teachers, specifically anything regarding any sort of carry-over benefits (or lack there of). Basically, I'd just like to let my friend know that his wife won't have to start over at ground zero by moving out of state so that he can reassure her. Thanks in advance.
MD Teacher Are you talking about salary base or actual teacher tenure?

BRAC mover I don't honestly know (I didn't even know there was a difference). It's my friend's wife, so a friend of a friend senario, and my sister's mother-in-law, so another second-hand source, so I'm not all too certain on details from either end.
