My boyfriend is interviewing for jobs in Annapolis. There is a chance he will be moving there, with me right after the school year ends. I just finished my fifth year teaching. I have my Elementary certificate and am HQ in Middle School English/Language Arts.

My question is.... In New Jersey you apply to a specific district (town). An old college roommate of mine teaches in MD and she said that you apply to the county. How does it work in Maryland? In New Jersey you choose which towns you want to apply to...but it sounds like in Maryland you don't have much say.

Both my boyfriend and I went to colleges in Maryland (MSMU for me and UMD for him). Before I began teaching I moved to Maryland a few years and lived in Baltimore and Columbia. So I'm somewhat familiar with the area, but I know nothing about the state's education system.

Thanks for the input!
MD teacher Apply to the county, many are done online. Howard and Frederick are still paper based, but you print it all out from the website.

Every experience is different, but I interviewed at three schools and was offered one position. I don't know the entire state, but some counties are not hiring in English/Language Arts AT ALL, and if t...See More
