Calling all teachers! The Chesapeake Bay Trust is announcing the opening of its 2011 Awards Program! Teachers and students are eligible to win!

Teacher of the Year Award - DEADLINE December 16, 2011

A $2,500 award will be given to the winner’s school to fund Trust approved environmental field trips and/or outdoor education work.

Criteria: - Is affiliated with a Maryland school system, either as a practicing classroom teacher or environmental educator. - Motivates and inspires students by promoting environmental awareness throughout the school and community. - Uses the school grounds and surrounding environment to enrich classroom experiences and develop future environmental stewards. - Engages colleagues and parents to participate in student’s environmental education experience. - Teacher can complete application or be nominated.

Student of the Year Scholarship - DEADLINE December 16, 2011

Awarding a $5,000 scholarship to a Maryland high school or college student who has shown an outstanding commitment to environmental stewardship, Chesapeake Bay restoration and community involvement.

Criteria:

- Maryland resident and full-time student (high school or undergraduate, two or four year, college). - Motivates and inspires other students by promoting environmental awareness throughout the school and community. - Has a strong academic record (3.0 or higher). - Participates in efforts to improve the environment on school grounds and in their community. - Engages friends and parents to participate in efforts to improve the environment and the Chesapeake Bay. - Applications must be submitted by the student directly.

Honorable Arthur Dorman Scholarship - DEADLINE December 16, 2011

Awarding a $5,000 scholarship to a Maryland high school or college student who demonstrates a commitment to improving the health of the environment and the Chesapeake Bay and who, as a student of color, exhibits exemplary leadership in promoting diversity and inclusion in his/her school and broader community.

Criteria:

- Maryland resident and full-time student (high school or undergraduate, two or four year, college). - Motivates and inspires other students by promoting environmental awareness throughout the school and community. - Has a strong academic record (3.0 or higher). - Participates in efforts to improve the environment on school grounds and in their community. - Engages friends and parents to participate in efforts to improve the environment and the Chesapeake Bay. - Arthur Dorman applicants must be a minority student: Applications must be submitted by the student directly.
