I am looking for a job in the New Hampshire or Maine area. I currently teach in Florida, but I am moving back to my hometown this summer. I am sending resumes out and I look on servingschools.com daily, but no luck so far. Any information that anyone might have to help me find where the jobs are would be great! Thanks and take care! Bambi
Please review this article in the Washington Times..
Here is three short statements:
"Members of the Maine National Guard, called up to prepare for an attack on Iraq, have asserted that their children are being harassed at school by teachers who oppose the war"
"The incidents involved students in elementary and middle schools, some as young as 7 years old, he said. What we're hearing is that some of the educators are talking about the possible war in Iraq being unethical and that those who would fight it are unethical"
Mr. Albanese (state commissioner of education) wrote in a letter sent Tuesday to all superintendents and principals in Maine. "In some cases, parents — who are about to be deployed — have observed added stress and anxiety among their children who perceive a staff member or their peers as being insensitive to their beliefs and the potential danger to loved ones," Mr. Albanese wrote.
Brings to mind the old saying of those "who can do..those who can not teach"
I just hope that this has been done by a few..and not the norm for teachers everywhere..and you ask why teachers get so little respect, pay? Look to the few who think that their opinion or polictical views should override teaching ethical principal's.
How about this...Just get the kids to read, write and add at their grade level..would not that be just a wonderful thing...

Unfortunately, and perhaps the most frightening, is that I cannot see anything happening to these teachers. Neither the State of Maine, nor the United States, is powerful enough to take on the NEA, who will back these few no matter what they say or do.

Well I know what you're saying but I disagree. This country began unions its about time some of the political 'unions' -the ones that think they're above the law and moral conduct were legally disbanded for the public good. Alot of teachers want NEA out, myself included. They just sit there and 'pretend' they know what we need and make legislation that is impossible for us to attain. They dont ask IF its possible. NEA has run amok for decades now and its time. End the dues, end the association & put that money back in my pay!
Send letters to the Governor-demand action. I did because these few make us all look bad. I agree with the person who said email Governor & ACLU-this has gone too far.
I was condidering a professional job in Maine - however, after hearing how liberal Maine teachers appear to be, i.e. telling thier students that Moms and Dads should not go to such an "unjust war" and "kill babies in Iraq".. I now taking my family and money elsewhere. I hope the people of Maine know that all our military service moms and dads are fighting for them too - even though they don't seem to care.
I am completely outraged. The teachers responsible for the abuse of the children of the soldiers in Maine should lose their liscence and they should not be allowed to teach again. There is no excuse for this.
This isn't about Liberals and Conservatives. This is about protecting children from abuse. The children of Iraq will soon be free of an oppressive tyrant. I pray that the children of Maine will soon be free from these oppressive teachers.
I just wanted to add if this happend to my child I wouldnt be typing here I would be consulting with an attorney to bring suit against each & every teacher, superintendent, principal involved on a personal & professional basis. I wouldnt let this go. I actually want to see the 6 oclock news & trial on this on court tv. I want to hear the justification, the reasons why this was moral conduct. I want to know WHY this happened & I want them brought to justice. This is disgusting. The more I think about it, the sicker it is...

The truth be known is that the School Dept. is just pushing the agenda of the Dept Of Human Services in the state of Maine.(they work hand in hand) they have stated their hate and discontent for Military Personnel. Sorry to say as long as everyone sits back does nothing, NOTHING will be done about it. and they know with enough time it too will go away. if you don't believe me Just look at the Logan Marr story. that 5yr old (a brave girl gave her all for reform)killed at the hands of the state professional's. Because they are the only ones ENLIGHTENED. so all of you mainers just sit in you homes thinking you are safe. Don't worry they will get around to your family. after all we all know how scared of standing up you all are. even if it means your children. Mainers couldnt get togather enough people with a back bone to run a kool-aid stand of one. you Get what you pay for and elect into office. so there it is in a nut shell. all talk big behind the states back but no show to stand up to them. complete lack of back bone. so stop complaining till you do something about your own house.

CNN is saying, from Augusta, that children of military servicemen are being persecuted by Maine teachers! Do they have a deathwish? Let's hang them in the town square, set 'em on fire, and donate corpses to the local pig farm for a nice bbq.
If you read the article in the Wash. Times, it's pretty heavy on sensationalism, but short on facts and details:
---------------------------------- Mr. Albanese told the Bangor Daily News that only one complaint involved classroom remarks, after the child of a Guard member became upset during a discussion of Iraq when a teaching assistant "took up the anti-war" argument. Other incidents, according to Mr. Albanese, involved a child who had requested to leave school early for a military-related activity and a student who was teased on a school bus because he has a parent in the military. ---------------------------------
Let's see: 650 verbal. That's the 92 percentile, bucko!
I saw the report on CNN (crossfire.) The report comes from the article I posted. The headline is sensational, but the details are less than supportive of the claim that huge numbers of teachers are "taunting" children in Maine. Read it yourself. I posted the link.

You obviously missed the post that said MONEYLINE and not CROSSFIRE but hey you only got a 92. So much for reading skills. Moneyline did a report and interviews
I only scored in the 98 percentile... Those under 95 are doomed to teach I guess.
Try watching the recast of O'Reilly tonight If you can bring yourself to watch Fox News
