I'm currently in the United States with the intention of contact with teachers who could be interested in making an educational project for the next academic course 2011-2012, so that science students from Malaga and USA could make a collaborative work and establish a rewarding relationship, using the new technologies.
I´ve already done a science project to enable our students to meet students from another country, while working together and improve their science skills.
If you are interested, I could sent you the project and we could change it, since it´s a flexible project.
I´d like to have the opportunity, also, to visit some schools in Usa to learn about the U.S. educational system, the methodologies used, the available resources ... Would appreciate someone gives me the opportunity to make a visit to your school.
My email address is: [email removed]
Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions about it.
Whatever your certificate says is what districts will look at. If you took the MTTC math after you received your certificate, then it may not show up on your certificate and you may have to get it added.
I went to this workshop last year and it was great . . .thought maybe someone out there might be interested. You can earn 3 Grad credits in a 3 day worksop for $500. Check it out!
There's no severance, but you'll qualify for unemployment. The union is a scam. they ONLY help tenured teachers. They do nothing to represent new teachers, they simply take their money and say that they are "at-will" employees and they can't do a thing. At my old district, the union president owned the town bar and the superintendent got drunk there on a regular basis.
As a lifelong democrat, I've always supported unions because I'm aware of the labor struggle. The MEA, however, is a ponzi scheme.
Our plight is that we do the best we can for children, despite the conditions they live in, and we work in. Whoever came up with the idea that "if life gives you only lemons, then make lemonade" spent too much time reading Ayn Rand. What if there are no lemon trees in your neighborhood? Or sugar? Or clean water? What if all you are given is cow patties and cheese curls? What do you make out of that? The plight of teachers is that we do try to make something out of it, and when nothing good comes of it, we are willing to take the blame. Our nation's problems do not come from the fact that no one can make much from cow patties and cheese curls, but that we are given a steady diet of cow patties and cheese curls in the first place. The plight of teachers might be that we need to redefine ourselves.

I feel that teaching is a very demanding job that non teachers don't understand. We all have heard the you get summers off comments. Our students are coming in lower every year. Poverty in our state is bad. If you are worried about putting food on the table, do you have time to listen to your child read? Tough times, praying they will get better.
