Hi. I teach kindergarten and coordinate the before-and-after school program for the YWCA in Minneapolis. We have a private kindergarten and specialize in children with behavior problems.

Hi, I am a beginning teacher from North Dakota. My husband and I are planning on moving to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area in the next 2 months. I've been looking around for job openings but am not finding much. I was wondering if you, or anyone else who is reading this, have any suggestions for me? I have a bachelors in elementary with K-6 cert. and the extra Kindergarten certification that ND requires. I also have an Associates in Developmental Disabilities with 4 years experience in a group hone. I've been substituting here this past year since graduation because there are no openings available. They don't anticipate any openings here for a few years. Your private kindergarten sounds very interesting. Are there many programs like that in your area? I may be interested in looking into them more. Thanks for your time. Janelle
Hi! I like the idea of a Minnesota board. Teachers.net is a great resource. I teach in St. Francis, but am starting to get ready looking for a new job next school year! Nervous with all these cuts going on!
I taught 6th grade in Minnetonka for the last two years but am laid off now (budget cuts). I am working in a child care center in Plymouth but would love to go back to classroom teaching. If anyone knows of any teaching jobs (1-6) in the north or central metro area, I would love to hear from you. Thanks, Angela
Haven't seen any new posts so I thought I might as well post one myself. Does anyone know of any schools in the Mpls. are that will be hiring elementary teachers next year? I am wondering if it is even worth it to try to send out resumes and fill out all those applications. I did this two years ago and ended up having to take a job at a private school an hour north of the city. Won't be doing that again next year, but don't really want to sub. Any ideas?

Tip to use Alejandro's books in the classroom: Several schools are using Alejandro's books, "books written by a peer", as following: 1.- they give the students a chapter to read 2.- they discuss the chapter in class 3.- they ask the kids to write something similar based on their own personal experiences.
Isn't teaching fun! I've just gottten all my winter stuff put away, and was starting to shift my classroom focus to spring when winter finally shows up! The kids were skating to the buses yesterday when leaving school, because the side walks were so icey. Last night we got such a blast of rain we had water in our basement this morning, that usually only happens when we get the nastiest of thunderstorms.
We would have had storm day on Sat. if it would have been a school day! Drifts are all over the place here in northwestern MN. The snowmobilers are happy, even though it will be a very short season for them.

It is so sdepressing listening to the news....all these budget cuts. I feel for anyone that will lose their job. I teach in Eagan, just south of the Mall of America. The school is a non-secretarian school (private, but not religious). I teach 3rd grade. With class sizes exploding in surrounding districts our school is hoping to maybe pull in some more students and boost enrollement numbers next fall. Some of the teachers are worried that the enrollement numbers will fall at our school due to a large increase in tuition. It will cost a student approximately $9800 to attend our school beginning next fall. Some of us are worried about our jobs, too! Good luck to all of you! Some of you live so close! I live in Fridley, but work in Eagan...about a 30 minute commute in the morning (because I leave sooooo early) and the commute in the evening takes about 35 - 40 minutes...depending on weather (ha!).
Hi there- I am one of the newest on my staff and yep, I've been cut. But I've decided that I will sub right here in this school and also am writing a grant to continue a program that I started this year. Though I am upset about it, I know that this will be okay for me.
